Well today and yesterday the quarter finals were played. For those who don't know the America's Cup is a cup where the national teams of the CONMEBOL and two invitees from the CONCACAF (usualy Mexico and some other team) play a formal tournament. Well Today my nation's team lost to Brazil 4-0. It was a horrible loss in that Mexico lost a streak they had against brazil and that Brazil didn't even have their A team, they didn't have the great defense of Carlos Roberto, or other members such as Claudinho, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, or Ronaldo. It was a a sad day for my selection, but it was a good run while it lasted. now the semi's are argentina v. colombia, and uruguay v. brazil both games seem to have the possibility of being great games, and hopefully they will be. Today both the games were good, paraguay and uruaguay played and it wasn't until the last minutes of the game that uruguay secured the win. And the mexico brazil game was also exciting, but i do have to say the ref made a bad call, when calling an obvious foul, inside the goal area, dangerous play, making mexico kick an indirect free kick rather than a penalty and would have most likely made the game 2-1. But all in all Brazil did deserve teh win they were much better than mexico.

There's an article here (http://www2.sbs.com.au/opinions/index.php3?id=47781) explaining why the A teams aren't out there. Basically, the national teams play each other all the times any way for the World Cup qualifying so the significance of the Copa Americas Cup has diminished.

But, it would have been nice to see Ronaldo, Ronaldino, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Kaka, Cafu... fuck what a team.

We get no coverage at all here in Australia, except a five second statement in the sports segment of the news. Where are you (Mexico probably?) and how are you watching the games?

If the coverage of the Australia vs. Venezuela match earlier this year was anything to go by, any coverage of these events wouldn't be very good.

Coverage of soccer in Australia is pretty bad. The only real coverage is SBS on a Sunday afternoon. The SBS show is an overload of soccer - usually about 5 or 6 hours. It appeals to people for whom too much is never enough. Hi! to my brother if he is reading this....

Uruguay - knocked the Socceroos out of the 2002 World Cup qualifiers.... I still bear a grudge.... :(

to answer 108's question i live in the US, and although soccer coverage is horrible here, i was lucky enough to watch the games on a mexican owned channel so it was good.

Tomorrow is the final between Brazil and Argentina, i think it'll be pretty good

Why are Costa Rica & Mexico who are CONCACAF nations playing? If they are in, why isn't the US there?

I'm not mistaken, Mexico has not been able to beat USA for a few years now.
