Has anyone got one of these devices in their vehicle ?
I have a friend in Perth who bought one recently and we chatted and he said it wasnt illegal in WA to have them
Now i was of the understanding they were illegal australia wide ..
He even gave me a link of a company that sell the units in WA..
I know here in Sth Oz they are illegal and you get a nice phat fine too for having one in the car...

They are illegal to use nation wide yet ironically it's not illegal to sell them, under car neon lights & musical horns are also illegal to use yet can legally be sold.

Theyre legal in most states over here in the US and I have one in my car. A little radar device is mounted under the front of my car (maybe the back too, i've never checked) and it wires into a main control by my pedals under my wheel. It beeps and flashes yellow when it detects...very handy.

they're useless against modern LIDAR detectors though, which use laser rather than radio frequency (RADAR) radiation...

so becareful not to get into a false sence of security, cos LIDAR detectors are the hand held ones cops use, and some (but not all) fixed trafic light ones...

Damn LIDAR, have a huge range too, something like 600M if the cops can get line of sight.

Tip for reducing fines. Always ask the cop to tell you how fast you were going, never volunteer this information. Then when the cop has told you how fast you were going, ask to see the reading on the LIDAR/Radar device. Sometimes the LIDAR's speed recording will drop down after the cop has looked at it, if this happens you should be able to have the offence and fine reduced.

Or get a fine on the Western Ring Rd in Melbourne and then a year later get a letter saying you are applicable for a refund...much nicer...

I used to have one called Tiffany, but sadly she went walkabouts when the Telstar got stolen(twice in one day). Eventually found it in Woollongong.

Wrong, Undercar neon lights are legal in WA as are radar detectors. Ive even got the legal document for undercar neon lights saying they are legal, the only time a police officer will pull you over is if you can see the actual globe of the neon, it must be tucked up well under the skirts of the car.

Radar detectors are fine in WA also, no law barring them here.

Musical horns are illegal to a certain degree here, as long as you have the main horn sound then its okay, you can have multiple horn sounds. Getting your car to moo like a cow is a great way to blow some money :p
