So I go to play a video (mpg, divx, xvid, whatever) and the colours are all screwed. The whole thing looks way saturated, contrast++ but the brightness turned down. I'd post a screenshot but for some reason video doesn't show up when I do a printscreen and paste it in paint - just a black square where the video should be.

I went on google and looked around, and all I could see was that it could be something to do with ffdshow. So I reinstalled it (from the win32 binary linked on the sourceforge page) and the problem is still there. I went into ffdshow configuration and played around but nothing affected the colours.

This only started occuring recently, and the only thing I've done to my system in the past couple of weeks is install SP2 for WinXP.

My system is this:
AMD AthlonXP 2800+ (running at original clock)
512Mb DDR Ram at 333MHz
Abit NF7-S mobo (nForce2 chipset)
Geforce 2MX400 video card
Windows XP Pro SP2
Latest drivers for all

I'm not all that concerned about video not showing up in screenshots, just the colours problem. Can anyone help?

Right click on desktop, go to properties. settings. advanced. GF2MX (or whatever).

in there you can change all kinds of things. go to colour correction and choose 'overlay/VMR'. That's where you control the the video options.
