does anyone know how the fuck i can install winxpsp2 in a sketchy install of windows ?

you could try downloading the win xp sp1 key gen and then also downloading the winxp sp2 pack.
Eventually you will get a key that works.
The sp2 stand alone file which you can try with no internet connection you can get from most places. like www.fileplanet.com
you'll have to search for the keygen. there were rumors of self destructing behaviour programmed into sp2. so it's at your own risk

SP2 will install fine and won't self destruct, although I can't see this thread lasting long.

i've got a copy of Windows XP Pro that has a serial number, but it didn't require activation (it's a *special* copy).

are you saying that you need a key to install SP2?

Only if you want to do it via windows update

I didn't have a problem installing SP2...
I used the xp corp keychanger to change my key to a valid one which allowed me to update SP1 ages ago, didn't have a problem using the same key for SP2.

Aparantly all it will do is say "not allowed" if your key is invalid like SP1 did... nothing like the rumours say where it will lock you out of windows.
