I've always seen people kayaking the Snake River Canyon close to where I live and it looks like a blast, so I tried it. It is a blast :P. Saturday I took the first of 4 lessons and am eagerly looking forward to the next three. Less water up the nose would be a good thing though.

Any other zgeekers kayak?

OK, so I made it through all four lessons. The last day was down the Snake River Canyon. Flows are fairly low. Late in the season and the releases at the dam have been reduced dramatically. River dynamics are very intereesting though. During low flow, some rapids get smaller (obviously). What wasn't obvious to me is that some rapids get larger during lower flows. Anyhow, I guess I am a kayaker now :D I plan on sticking with it, will probably buy a boat this winter when they're cheap. Take some rolling classes over the winter and be back on the river next summer. Here's a picture of one of the rapids in the Snake River Canyon. This one's called Big Kahuna. The boater is not me, just thought I'd post a pic to give some perspective to what I did.
