Ok, I recently installed XP Service pack 2, and now when I sign into MSN Messenger, I click on the email tab and it takes me to outlook express, instead of my hotmail inbox on the web. How do I get it pointed back at the web based inbox?
Cheers in advance

Probabaly not the answer you want, but the steps are:
1) Uninstall SP2.
Problem solved.
I know that's a bit glib, but SP2 buggerizes everything, including your sister. There are few places this TOAD of a system update doesn't get it slimy hands on.
All drama aside - seriously - uninstall or rebuild. Wait for the next update :)

haven't installed sp2 yet, waiting till the (supposed) service release for it. have you tried "set program access and defaults"? not sure if that will help...
perhaps an upgrade of your version of messenger?
perhaps try an uninstall of messenger (can you even do this?) and re-install. do this as a last resort, before an unistall of sp2 or rebuild

From now on, only suggestions that aim to solve the problem without changing mail providers or formatting etc. If he wants to use Hotmail, telling him not to is not helping at all.

Looks like you're up the proverbial:
Unfortunately there is no way to "change" this setting. If you're using Windows Messenger (4.7.2009 or lower; pre SP2) it will make use of your Hotmail account so long as you're signed in with an active @msn.com or @hotmail.com Passport. Windows Messenger 4.7.3000 (SP2) removes this functionality and will simply open your default e-mail program instead. MSN Messenger 6.x will always use Hotmail (as long as you're again, signed in with an @msn.com or @hotmail.com Passport).
As such, in order to get "Hotmail functionality" (which is what I assume you want), you'll either need to downgrade to the previous version of Windows Messenger http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp) or use MSN Messenger instead (http://messenger.msn.com/Download/)
