Uh, I'm sort of strapped for cash lately, but I'm thinking of getting a game to occupy myself with over the mid semester break, as I haven't got one in about a month or so, and I'm getting a bit bored with the ones I've got installed (played them pretty much to death). These are the ones I've been thinking of getting, I just can't decide which of them to get. Your advice would be very much appreciated.

Perimeter (PC)

Half Life pack thingy (PC)

Resident Evil (GCN)

The Sims 2 (PC)

Battlefield: Vietnam (PC)

Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons...

Just download them, or at least the demo's if you wanna buy one, then try them first. after all your the best person to judge on what you like....

Personally though, I think for battlefield add-ons/ Vietnam, I would rather wait for BF 2 : )

Wouldn't bother with Battlefield secret weapons. As its just a mod just download it from one of those um test sites.

I am biased when it comes to BF Vietnam. Great online community and the game is awesome.

Concur with above said comments about UT.

A couple of awesome online free ones are Americas Army and Enemy Territory. Game Arena hosts servers if you are in Australia. Sure there would be a local site for you if in another country. US and EU people have definitely got them.

I agree with Bf Secret Weapons...forget it.
The Sims 2 is addictive but only for some. Others get bored real quick. I love the game. Its relaxing after blowing things apart.
Most popular PC game is Call of Duty GOTY or Expansion pack.
Play online? I'm hanging out for Star Wars Battlegrounds (tomorrow).
The biggest current pre-order though is Rome Total War (due Friday) that and Dawn of War.
Try the demos and you should be hooked with those 2.

i would go with sims for the fact of replay value and the ability to tweak with many generations of sims..... plus the bonus of ' hey honey im gaming but this game we can do together....awwwww'

Yeah agreed, try before you buy..

The Dawn of War beta was OK, but just ok, in retrospect I think Starcraft still beats it, that game really hasn't been topped.

The Battlefield games are great for lans...

Is it for LANage or single player?

I would wait until next month as there is tons of great games supposed to be coming out.

Here's just a few

HALO 2
Vampire the masquerade bloodlines
Paper mario 2
Metriod prime 2

I think Dawn of war rocks for replay, but only if you play multi.
the single palyer campain is short and playing against a compy isn't very fun.
expansion pack is being worked on to add more races.

If you want a good console RPG I hear Shadow Hearts: Covenant for PS2 is good...I'm ordering it right now...all these people are calling it a "FF Killer" apparently it competes well with the best of FF's.

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up impulse buying the Half Life platinum. Then the next week I saw it for about $15 cheaper. Burned.
