How does one find processor clock speed in win 98?

I am trying to find the processor speed on my mom's comp. it is running win 98, and i am not familiar w/ the operating system and have never had a machine i didnt know the clock speed on, so the issue has never arisen. thank you for the help.

System Properties doesn't show clock speed under windows 98. If you have DirectX installed then Start, Run, dxdiag [enter] will.

There are also applications such as CPUInfo which will give you a bit more information about the hardware.

open up the computer remove the fan then stick your finger on the CPU and start the machine, the hotter it gets the faster it is, for every second your finger is on the cpu add 100hz.

no need to go that far, yes i did break the forum rules, but i do agree with the fact that druid should have just deleted it rather than do what he did.

A decent moderator would have also PM'd the reason why also, and probably an empty threat about what would happen if i did it again

Pirate doesn't like mods deleting posts. He even turned the deleting permissions off for a while once.
Instead he liked my "Oopsie tagging" idea when I notified all mods when I started doing it
Hence, deleting a post is going much further than editing one and leaving the original content there.

yes, well back on track....
when the computer boots up you can pause it with... surprisingly the "pause" key (hit any other key to continue).
you should be able to see something on the screen after the video card displays its info. ie the one where it tells you the bios information, and then detects and hard drives cd roms etc.
if you miss that the bios POST screen will probably have something. this is the screen immediately after.
im not sure win98 has anything built in that wil let you easily check the processor speed. annoying really.
