ta, thanks, bye
If you're browsing Suprnova and plan to download this game, use Efnet's #bt-gm torrent over whatever else is on offer (including the link posted above). They aren't the largest release channel for games without a reason.

If they don't figure out how to release a game in the stores before they leak it to the pirates (little P, not big P like our one here at ZGeek) nobody will buy their stupid games. I can't get NFS2U at the store, so where do you think I'll turn?
HL2 on the other hand will be on my PC legally faster than I could possibly hope to buy it in a store. Sure, it'll be leaked too and downloadable within hours but more people will buy it. Direct delivery to my PC is the best answer to piracy - give us a way to buy our game faster than the current way, and we'll smile. Of course, cutting the price to reflect the elimination of fat-ass comicbook-guy style game store owners might help a tad...

its pretty much impossible to stop this pre release, it happens with movies, music etc. review copies and pre release copies will alway be leaked, and while something like steam could be an answer, not everyone has access to highspeed broadband, then theres the attraction to the shiny tin. i dont see things changing in the near future.

Why should I have to pay bandwidth costs and have my connection caned for a few hours as well as paying for the game itself? I can't see people with limited bandwidth/shaped connections sharing your enthusiasm.

hmmm ok i got NFS U2 from the above supernova bittorrent, it is a rar while and when i go to unzip it it needs a password. The texts file with the rar tell me i need to go to a forum and sign up to get the password, anyway it is all in spanish or something, i muddled through ti and got signed up and they claim they will send me a link to activate my account, but i never got it. Did anyone else download this torrent and know the passowrd at all?
for reference the website that suposedly has the password is www.zonegameset.com
I have also tried using a rar password cracker but so far have only managed to get my computer to lock up. Does anyone have any other ideas I could try?
rep+ for any useful comments or solutions :)
should have got the reloaded torrent

Played this for a while last night. At first I got to that parking lot place with the slag's borrowed car and didnt know wtf to do once I parked in the blue thing.
Fucked about doing some 360s and booting the arse out of the nitros before doing the 'park and press every key' trick until I eventually hit 'Enter' and got in.
Then I chose the Civic from the garage in true (UK) ricer style. I had to go out soon after so I've not actually raced yet.

ive unlocked the suv's and celica, about 12% of the game so far. i love the raindrop effects and lightning.
im unsure as to why opponents show up in explorer mode on the map?
I've got pretty far through this game, although I'm getting pissed off at actually having to race once in a while. I find it more enjoyable just cruising around the city, trying to find a stretch of highway I can hit 300 on before tailing some van going at what seems like 20.
All in all: I've found that racing games in general don't need very high system specs to see what's going on. I haven't bothered to find out the framerate at which it's running because I know I'll have a cry and notice it more. I'd say it wouldn't be more than about 25 on the quiet bits. That said, I notice very little change between running it at low quality, and running it at high, so perhaps my card is just a piece of shit.
Ah well, if it can load up Half-life 2 sometime in the next month, when I finally get paid, I'll be happy enough.
I drove with a Miata for so long - the handling made up for its less-than-half-of-the-best-you-can-get acceleration and top speed. I drive with a light touch. I've finally moved over to an RX-8, but I'm waiting until I can at least get a Skyline like my old one:

You can only have 5 cars in your garage, and I haven't seen the option to drop one yet (I've made a couple of bad decisions). I'm waiting until I find a car with handling good enough to fill the last spot.
I like the way you can rice up even more than NFSU, including stuff like pulsing neon, custom gauges, etc. It's a reasonably enjoyable game to play, and it loads up fast enough for me to be able to occupy 5 minutes if need be. I might do a full review later, but probably not.
Miata:

RX-8, which I haven't bothered to do 'leet shit (tm)' to yet. Black, eugh.

:edit: changed the images to show 'performance' stats. I'd prefer them without those little white circles - the effects some 'upgrades' are totally obscured by them :dozermad:

so is thee any reason why opponents show up in cruise mode?
nice cars btw, and is it only after track racing you get to unlock cars?

There are certain stages in the game that, after completion, unlock new cars. In addition, each 'level' or 'part' unlocks new cars.
When you are just cruising around, the little orange arrows are cars that you can challenge for a bit of cash. If you win, you get the cash (which varies depending on what stage of the game you are at. It starts with 100). If you lose, you lose the cash. It's generally not that difficult to win, unless you manage to take a wrong turn while following them closely (happens to me often), or you hit something. It's useful if you've got somewhere to go on the map, or if you just want to cruise around and around on the highways.
For the first parts of the game (until you unlock the 'extreme' kits), always visit the 'Megalow Parts' store - that's the first one you'll come across. It will give you 20% discount, as opposed to 10%. I still haven't figured out what hydraulics do, other than as a 1000 'bank' novelty. You can either have spinners OR rims - I think spinners give you more 'style', but I like some of the rim designs.
To be honest, I'm getting a little bored of the game, and I'm not looking forward to the next few races (all I have left to do in this 'level' are the circuit races, where I almost always manage to fuck up on the second-last turn of a 3-lap course).

I played the demo and it was just the same as the previous one.
Swing and a miss.
