Hey guys,

Relatively speaking, is it risky getting your XBox mod chipped? And how much does it cost generally?

Also, you QLD zgeeks, do you know of any reliable and professional place I can get my trusty XBox mod chipped?

I have an xecuterII chip with the solderless adapter. Very good. Check out xbox-scene.com, it will have everything you need to know, inlcuding how not to design a good and functional webpage.
There should be a few other threads here regarding this too.

I was mainly asking to find out if any QLD zgeeks knew of a professional and reliable mod chipper. ;D

What is the production date of your Xbox????

If i remember, if it was produced before nov 2003 than you can soft mod it, costs you the price of a rental game.

I only bought it from EB a month or so ago, so I would imagine its pretty new, production wise.

Fair enough, im pretty sure that the new ones dont allow the soft mod anymore.

Check out Blade if you want www.blade.cc

But be warned, this is the most horrible website that has ever been designed. For a company that is owned and operated by a bunch of super-nerds, you would have thought that they would have created a good site.

Even if you dont get it done from them, i urge you to go and see these geeks. if you can stand in the shop for more than 10 minutes without laughing then your a stronger person than me.

Softmods are a pain in the neck mostly, and only apply to the real old boxes. Solderless mods are reasonably easy to install, but have a habit of falling out of place when moved making them unreliable under certain circumstances.

Expect to pay between $100 and $150 for the mod including installation, and bear in mind that the cheaper mods usually lack functionality (such as hard drive upgrade wizards, support for multiple BIOS images, and a decent GUI for managing the configuration). Spend the extra money if you can afford it, as the benefits are pretty significant. The Executor is an excellent mod, as is the Xenium (although it isn't great on the v1.6 xbox).

Sorry I can't help with a QLD modder though :(

We have been running 3 x-boxes at my place all with the soft mod, the only pain that i can see is the locking of the HDD to xbox, the only draw back is that if you put in the wrong code then you can kiss your HDD goddbye forever. No fuck ups yet thank god :)

Ours have been going strong for the last year with no problems. I cant see the problem, $120 bucks for a second hand Xbox + $6 for the game.

Our local Cash Converters know us purely for the fact of buying the old x-boxes, as soon as we walk inthe guy shakes his head and says sorry mate, none this week heh :(
