Friendly?

I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. Spanish fans making monkey noises at Ashley Cole whenever he's on the ball, now Wright-Phillips has come on and is getting even worse.

What the fuck was David Beckham doing applauding the fans as he came off? As captain he should have taken his team off the fucking pitch, but instead he's thinking about his pay packet and his Madrid team mates. Wanker.

FIFA and EUFA need to come down fucking hard on this, otherwise all us 'chip on the shoulder' England fans have every right to complain that it's one rule for Europe and quite another for us.

I think people think too much of it.

I find it also offensive. WTF is wrong with these people? How old are they?

But I guess it'll only damage their chance in their Madrid 2012 Olympics bid.

I think that by finiding it offensive, it gives it the power to influence. Afterall these dicks are only doing it because they think it will affect the player/s performance. Football players have been getting shit off the fans since the game started. Making monkey noises at a black player is obviously fucking stupid because he's so fucking obviously not a monkey. Yet here we are giving it credit, giving it the power, taking the insult literally, when what we should be doing is saying: "Eh? WTF are they on about?"

If I'd have been one of these players targetted by these chants I'd have been acting like a monkey (sticking the tongue under the bottom lip, scratching my armpits, head etc and walking about bowlegged) to show I wasn't bothered by it. Of course I suppose they'd have got booked/fined for inciting the crowd then? but that's what I'd have done.

bah the italians have been making those noises for years, is this some kind of diversionary tactic to not focus on another crap performance?

No. But fuck me was it a crap performance, did we even make one pass? I can't wait to go to the World Cup in 06 but I'm not excited about seeing England there. Even though it was 'only a friendly, that's the third time we've failed to string two passes together against quality opposition (France, Portugal, Spain).

Comfortably (or not) qualifying agains the likes of Poland and Wales isn't good enough.

Didn't he used to be a boxer? :D

He wanged his armband when he went off. I bet he didn't want to wear it in remembrance of Emlyn Hughes?
