Hey peoples, seeings as though we had so many entries there needs to be two voting threads. I'll leave them both open until the 6th of december and then we'll have another thread with the winner of the first two polls.

Yeah me too banga, but I don't think I made myself clear that I wanted to the photo's to be taken in November so I let that one (and a couple of others) slide. Next comp I will make myself clear ;)

but anyway i disagree, that dog one doesn't get many votes and thats all just subject, no tech or skill!

Other people seem to get it. Contrast is not the be-all, end-all of photography. There's elements in the picture that only revealed themselves on the second look and the overall color spectrum is quite exceptional.

one problem is that the form of the contest voting keeps deserving pics from getting a degree of credit. a tiered form of voting would have helped even this out but i think stygian ran out of time.

i suggest that when the identies of the photographers is revealed that folks who really liked their shots make a point of giving them rep with a comment. while winning the contest would be nice that kind of encouragement helps tons for us amateurs shutterbugs.

I'm not sure why folks seem to like landscapes and macros so much. I think they're just yawners. 1 & 6 are the most interesting of this pack. 2 gets an honorary mention for crazy subject matter.

I totally agree with Lectroma, not to get any enemies or anything. I don't have any entries in here so I'm allowed to say this. :D Although landscapes are cool if there is something interesting about them, there isn't really anything new in the landscapes I'm seeing. There is a large amount of grain in the bottom one from a dark picture being lightened a lot and dust on the lens, and although there is a factor of human interaction in the beach one, there really isn't anything insanely special about it. Don't take this as glorifying my own work, because I always find stuff wrong with it as well. Go to http://www.aphotoblog.tk and you can even bash my stuff back. I look forward to competing with you guys in the next round.

Also, I'm really surprised more people aren't voting for 7, I love how you can see the two people up there and just those two people together. It makes you wonder what they're doing or thinking. Or just me I guess. Too bad they weren't kissing, it'd remind me a lot of Robert Doisneau.

Yeah Sorry Kyle. I have learnt a few things from this first comp. Next time I will reply to all submissions so you know I recieved it, and yeah, I'll make myself clear with the rules. I kind of knew what I mean in my head and thought I had written that but when I re-read what I had written it didn't really say everything. Anyway

On the subject of landscapes, I am a huge fan, as long as there is something interesting in them. Entry #8 is very cool because of the swans (or whatever they are) and the castle in the background. I also like number two and six because of the colours, especially number two. So vibrant.

Number 1 just looks cool, full stop ;)

I know nothing about photography but I enjoy taking photos. Can't wait to see what the next comp is going to be.

I think stygian has done well for a first time, I personally cant wait to 'compete' when I get a camera at christmas. It won't be a great camera, and I'm not going to be a great photographer, but it's got my interest.

There's also mountains in the back, partially obscured by the clouds. I didn't notice them at first.
