I just wanted to post a warning to all those Zgeekers that use the newer versions of linux... especially those that supposedly install the new 2.6 kernel.

DONT

Distros like Fedora Core 3 install the newer kernel family, but it changes your hard disk geometry so that you can't dual boot with windows, hell I couldnt even install windows over it until I removed the partitions with debian's partitioner (I'm sure others will work just fine :) )

Just be careful, make sure you read the forums for problems before you try the new half assed "ooh look I have Gnome 2.6 and KDE 3.whatever but 80% of it doesnt work" distros.

I hate to be the one to say it - but you're an idiot.

seconded.. i have 3 dual boot machines here at work. no problems as long as you read the instructions.

no, the partitioner does not change your disk geometry.
