Respect to that. You should scan them. When I was a child I read the original Winnie the Pooh books, the ones from before those Disney cunts had sunk their claws into it.

Good Idea. Dad brought these ones over from London with him 50 something years ago now.. I used to read one every night as a kid.. and they still look in good nic.
I too have read the ORIGINAL winne the pooh books.. we have them also. Disney did manage to tear those books apart. Sad. :(

I've still got my original Thomas The Tank Engine books, I have never looked at the modern incarnations of them but I would also imagine they would be different.
I flick through them every now and again. Makes me smile.

the battletech universe has been jumped forward in time, and i'm pretty sure that all the new books will be set in the updated timeline. so as long as you don't care about the new timeline (which looks kinda sucky) you should be able to finally catch up!

Yes, my original copy of "Henry the Green Engine" describes some boys blasted by smoke and soot from Henry's funnel as running away "as black as niggers".

The Farseer Trilogy - Robin Hobb.
Had been sitting on my shelf since my 21st bday, started reading it in November and just finished. Loved it so much have gone out to buy the two other trilogys she has written.
The Bournce Trilogy was pretty good too, movies ruined it though.

I quite enjoyed these, although my enjoyment was somewhat tainted by the fact that it's probably the most thinly veiled Christian allegory imaginable.
A good summary here (http://www.rinkworks.com/bookaminute/b/lewis.horse.shtml) and here (http://www.rinkworks.com/bookaminute/b/lewis.battle.shtml)

I read a series a while back about Australia being invaded by some unknown country of somesort. Can't remember who by. All I remember about it was it was fantastic, up until the third book, then kind of felt lame after that. I found out later that he was only planning on writing three, but badgering, foxing, wolfing and bearing got the rest of the series out of him.
Used to read a lot of dragonlance. It passed the time
Also used to read a whole lot of serial killer novels that seemed to be polluting the best sellers lists. After the first... few pages of the first one, I was able to guess the entire plot, predicting the gripping twist they warn you about in the blurb to within three pages. When I take over this planet, a whole lot of bestselling authors are going to die by ritualistic serial killer

You'd be talking about Marden's the Day After tommorow series. I always thought the implied invader was Indonesia.
yeah. oops. thats tomorrow that he said up there. anyway. they were good for about two books and then got kinda boring. i was a little tacker when they came out, and it was about the time I discovered Carmody and Eddings... so I moved on. Was fascinated as a 12 year old by the idea of getting to be in your own little guerilla group. but i digress. again.

i LOVE diceman. and whilst not technically a series, there is a sequel - search for diceman, as well as the book of the die - kinda like a bible for those that follow the religion of the die.

Amtrak Wars by Patrick Tilley
and the number one greatest and most violent series Ive ever read:
Richard Morgans Altered Carbon, and Broken Angels. The thrid one is about to be released. Wooot!
Its about a retired military evoy called Takashi Covacs. He works as a detective/mecenary. The next book will be based on Harlem's World (his homeworld) and will invole his family who he hasnt seen for around 120 years.

Didn't know that second one was also about Kovacs. I like Altered Carbon, and it certainly the most violent thing I've ever read.
I never finished Amtrak Wars; I wonder what happened in the end. Stupid library system.

Prophecy came true, but there was two chosen ones, one good and one evil. All she-cargo mutes were killed except for cadilac and clearwater. Steve and Ros also killed, but merged with cadillac and clearwater: two souls in one body etc. etc.
Broken angels is cool, very much a downer though as its on a shit world during a war and Kovacs is a mercenary. Worth the read though!

Discworld series is and continues great.
Forgotten Realms series by R A Salvatore based around Drizzt Do'Urden always has me interested.
The Dragonlance series of books is another.
I like the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb but didnt quite like the Liveship as much....havent looked at the Tawny Man Trilogy yet but may do.
The Red Dwarf series of books is also rather amusing
One more....Terry Brooks The Word and The Void Trilogy was also very awesome.
