Isn't the song about Mick Jagger?
the best i can find it that its a combination of 3 guys Carly dated. mick jagger sang backup on the song.
i always thought it was Warren Beatty.
From what i gather the 3 guys might be Warren, James Taylor (who she was married to for a time) and Mick. Only she and the lucky NBC executive who won a charity auction to have dinner with her know.

That the song was about Mick was a popular misconception when the album first came out in 1972 (digging deep in the memories here, guys!); but years later I heard from a few reliable sources (my ex's bestmate was sound mixer to 70's bands like BOC, Journey, etc) also discussed at a party we threw when Little Stevie (Van Zant [of E Street Band/Sopranos fame]) came by and heard him confirm in convo; it was about Warren totally......
At least that's what *I* remember hearing about the whole thing, and even though it was a while ago I do have a good memory; or -
the bitch coulda just lied to everyone LOL!
It was definetely not about James Taylor; who was usually too "uninterested" in gossip considering his main lady was really Harry...
But, hey! That's just what I heard backstage in ny, so I'm not sure what to believe...... /me laughs
