The cricket match the other night got me thinking... Who would I want in my team, providing all are fit and willing to play. So here it is, even though it will open a can of worms:
bronco's XII
1. Sanath Jayasuriya (SL)
2. Virender Sehwag (IND)
3. Ricky Ponting (AUS)
4. Sachin Tendulkar (IND)
5. Brian Lara (WI)
6. Adam Gilchrist (AUS)
7. Chris Cairns (NZ)
8. Shaun Pollock (SA)
9. Shane Warne (AUS) / Shoaib Akhtar (PAK)
10. Glenn McGrath (AUS)
11. Muttiah Muralitharan (SL)
12. Andrew Symonds (AUS)
Coach (Steve Waugh)
Spiritual Advisor (Sir Don)
Openers: Mix the pioneer of quick scoring openers in Jayasuriya with a young, skillful and quick opener like Sehwag and I think its a winner.
Middle Order: Ponting, Tendulkar and Lara... Who wouldn't want that middle order
Allrounders: Gilchrist, the best keeping alrounder going, Cairns (I think) the best all-round one day player, who can hit it a mile or two and Pollock who I think is the best allround allrounder.
Bowlers: You gotta have Warney (providing he is playing one-dayers) if not Shoaib will provide some strike. Combine either of those two with McGrath's line and length and Murali's ability to find a wicket and your doing well.
12th Man: If everyone is fit, the 12th man would only be on the field for fielding, so why not pick the best fielder.
Coach/Advisor: I had to fit in my heros somewhere. Bradman and Steve Waugh (yes, I liked him even before his flavour-of-the-month retirement).
Basically I would love to have this team and I would be shit scared to play against them... that's a good team!
Sorry to any nations not selected. England, I wanted Michael Vaughan, but couldn't fit him in. Same for Andy Flower and Heath Streak from Zimbabwae and Bangladesh, sorry but I don't know any of your players.
