um, right (http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/specialreports/specialnfl/) . now, moving on to the serious posts...

it's hard to pick against the patriots. they are the best coached team in the league. they have a strong core of players and the whole team works as a unit. this is the recipie for success in any sport.

but, that said, the eagles finally have all the tools and are playing at a high level right now. with owens back, they finally have the stick that might break the vaunted patriots defense.

as much as i love the steelers cinderella year i'm almost certain the clock struck midnight last week and the pumpkin arrives on sunday. atlanta simply is too one-dimensional to hold up in the championship against any of the others left.

I would never go as far as saying that even the worst NFL lineman is some kind of pussy. 6 foot 6 inch 350 lbs or more pounding the shit out of what ever he can scull fuck is hardly someone worthy of being called a pansy just so he can somewhat protect himself from his equal trying to do the same to him. The average term for a lineman is somthing like two to four years in the NFL due to the injuries they take on while on the field. What other sport (other than shintie SP?) has that low of an average career length. I know just about every person will say rugby or auss rules, but I can bet that the average is still longer in both of those sports. Not to take away from either of those two sports since I certainly respect what they do and are able to take physically, but to say that NFL players are pansies since they wear some padding is probabally not as waranted as you may think. I believe it hurts even more to get hit since there is absolutely no regard for your fellow man or yourself since you are "protected". Any full on helmet to helmet collision will fuck even the toughest guys up. Trust me. I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I just respectfully disagree.

That is a good link thanks for the re-direction. I missed that the first time around. That makes my point exactly.

I'm going with the Steelers.

Corey Dillon or not, he's not going to help much since he'll be sitting on the bench this week as Duce and the Bus run down NE's throats.

and exactly how many times in your life have you seen them hoist the lombardi trophy? needless to say, we don't all know. in fact, most of us are highly doubtful of this outcome.

If they do win tomarrow, they won't win against the Pats. There is no stopping them I am afraid. This late in the game, I am going to have to support the steelers, but I think that is a bad choice.....Pats will most likely steam roll.

hey. it aint nothin but a thing to me, bro. i don't have a favorite team so i simply enjoy the game for the sport of it.

along those lines, i again urge anyone interested in this topic beyond the level of "go team!" to check out the excellent website football outsiders (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/). it looks at the game in terms of statistical analysis rather than the usual "i like team X and everyone else suck" approach.

oh, yeah. all this and it's pretty well written as well.

so, metalhed00, you should give a read to the NFC Championship (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/ramblings.php?p=2271&cat=3) analysis but don't forget to peek in on the AFC Championship (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/ramblings.php?p=2272&cat=3) analysis either. both have some pretty illuminating observations for tomorrow.

I think Eagles and Patriots in the Super Bowl, with Eagles just edging it, although I want the pats to win! I'll be in the lounge watching with a beer, pizza, brady shirt and hopefully a giant sponge hand.

Makes me sad that I am in Germany and can't watch the playoffs. Being from Buffalo, I am a Bills fan (but we won't go there).

Pats will win... again....

For those of you with the interest and time, Gregg Easterbrook writes an excellent weekly article about the previous week's games. Very high brow for football and a great waste of time at work.

easterbrook seems to have slipped a bit this year. the column has a lot of his old stuff regurgitated this year. which is fine for the newcomers but it really felt like a letdown for those of us who have following him awhile.

but, if you check out the column and find it interestin, again, my friends over at football outsiders (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/) can help. they run a comments thread on easterbrook's column each week (check under the Extra Points (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/articles.php) section).

Regardless if he slipped or not, it's still one of the best football articles out there. After he got booted from ESPN, didn't he get hosted by Football Outsiders?

Also, I don't know if anyone else is in Germany, but I have to find a place to watch the Super Bowl!!! Help me!

no. he wasn't booted from FO. they hosted his column between it's being kicked off ESPN Page 2 and his current gig with NFL.com.

Never mentioned him getting booted by FO. Stupid Disney gave him the boot from ESPN.

I couldn't remember if it was FO or someone else who hosted him after that episode. I do recall Easterbrook having nothing but praise for FO and telling people to check them out (after he moved to NFL.com).
