If this is the case then:
a) Have either of you talked about this to any extent with her?
b) I would very much doubt that she 'hates' you, after all she did conceive you.

I can't say about my mother, but I can't stand my stepmother. My sister married secretly to avoid her interference and my brother can't stay in the same room with her for more than an hour then has to be dragged away by his wife before he loses it.
