[question] rep and rep status explained?

Can someone point me to where I can see what all the rep and rep status means? I was around when it all came about, but I was much less active than I have been lately (thank you slow job) so I didn't pay much attention to it at the time.

Now I can't find a basic description.

This is just to slake my curiosity.

I believe there is an faq about this in the newbie forum. And if there isn't someone needs to pm Pirate and have him put one in. In the meantime rep power is how much rep you have. The more rep you have the more loved you are by the geeks and the more access you have to various parts of the site. It also gives you more rep status which is how much rep you can give to others, and twice the amount of rep you can take from others.
