Ok i checked my host files and it doesn't appear to be those, i use firefox never IE. But if i type in "zgeek.com" i get redirected to one of those blank search pages with a couple of adds on them.. But if i type in "www.zgeek.com" or "www.zgeek.com.au" it works just fine...?? Anyone else getting this.

Time for you to use some spyware sweepers, dude. Spyware can do all sorts of nasty things, like hijacking IE. Try Spybot or NoAdWare.

yeah, looks like something spyware related to me. Antivirus, Spyware removal and failing that re-install windows...

Edit: erm, ok... so I was totally wrong.

Edit- I'm using Firefox as well.

I have had similar things happen to me before with other websites, usually if I attempted it a few times it worked but it ended up being a spyware problem.

the same has happened to me. but only after i clicked to read this thread. seriously.

i tried to hit reply and that page came up, the one that you took the screenshot.

i've gone BACK and typed in .au at the end and it works now.

i had to re-sign in.

i went to register.com to see who owns zgeek.com and it comes up as TIMED OUT.

if the domain name has lapsed or someones done a swifty and yanked it out from under Pirate then the shit will hit the fan.

I seriously doubt Pirate would let his domain registration lapse.

Same here, being redirected to another page however adding .au to the end seems to work until I use a link.

Oh fuck!

I had a friend who likes DNS shit and runs DNS checks on all of this shit all the time, and he told me the other week that ZGeek was meant to expire on the 14th.... and my one expires in 3 months or something.

Has it been renewed? By the look of it, the record still exists, but as far as the rest of the net is concerned, ZGeek.com has expired.

Wanna share with the rest of us? April 1 is still a way off...

Plus on my windows machine i run, adaware professional, spybot s&d, windows antispyware plus i format and reload monthly and basically only visit zgeek...I would hazard to say it's an ISP DNS or proxy thing if you are getting it on both Windows and Debian...

Try entering the addresses into your hosts file on Debian and trying it...If that fails, I'd say it's some sort of ULTRA spyware...Possibly a cache thing? Do you run a local proxy??

flush your dns on your comp (start-run-cmd-ipconfig /flushdns-exit) and clear out all cookies and history and stuff from browser. change start page to www.zgeek.com.au

edit hosts file to point www.zgeek.com and forums.zgeek.com to 67.15.132.41

In plain english, the DNS hasn't propergated yet to certain DNS servers.

So this can take anywhere from 10 minutes to a week. It's only meant to take 72 hours, but sometimes slower, sometimes quicker.

I ran a treacroute on both "zgeek.com" and "www.zgeek.com", and they both point to the new ZGeek IP address "67.15.132.41".

So all is good, the domain has been renewed (I hope), and now the DNS needs to settle down :)

In the mean time, if you really do need ZGeek, just goto "http://67.15.132.41"

I'm putting this to Support & Feedback as it has fuck all to do with spyware etc.

While the gods work on the problem make sure your hosts file looks like the entries below so you can use the site normally. Putting the IP in the address field confuses cookies-

The domain has expired. I hope there's a grace period so Tony can sort it up.

Obviously you're not from the school of Nodbugger.

I was going to say 'cocksucker' but there may have been some confusion at first. But we both know it's virtually the same thing.
