I've always considered myself to be quite cutting edge when it comes to slang and jargon. However recently I've noticed that the divide has grown quite a bit. I'm in a position where I get to speak to people from all generation (18 upwards). However recently I went to a bar with a bunch of 18 years and was amazed at the new slang such as "macking". It was like sitting in some really bad early 90's rap/ghetto movie where you understand every third word (if you’ve played played GTA San Andreas you would understand). It’s not as if I'm old, I'm 24 and like to think I'm young at heart.

Anyone else had a similar experience recently?

just before ed i dated an 18 yr old (no excuse) and i heard a line from frankie goes to hollywood's "relax" on his stereo and thought we finally had some common references...then i realised it was a re mix and he was adamant that it was original. :groan:

but seriously anyone who says macking should have a cap in tha ass mo fo!

macking is semi common terminology. I'm 23. I understood immediately. But then I like strange words. BOOBERTUBER!

My brother has an "advanced macking book" (from http://www.advancedmacking.com/) at home (yes I know it's sad)...an amusing read but doesn't teach you anything you shouldn't already know. It's only funny because it's so damn sleazy!!

Wasn't macking mentioned in the movie "Clueless"?

Can hardly rate as new lingo if it's in a 10yo movie. Cordis, you need to get out more old man :p

Apparently it's now "fo sheezy ma neezy". No idea know how long that'll last though, and i'd hate to think of what'll replace it.

Depends on the circles you mix in. 'Macking' was an easy one owing to a love of basketball and hip hop.

To be honest though I had fucking idea what 'l33t' was or what 'pwn3d' was before a bit of research and I thought I was not that old.

Just out of the loop.
