Anyone who takes a train, bus or ferry to work would know of the horrors they usually have to put up with. Such as late trains, obnoxious people who speak loud on their phones/or another language, people who don't give seats up and sit right on the edge of a seat and you have to feel them up as you climb over them or people who don't get up for you. :(

Anyway yesterday I was on a crowded train and went to sit on a 2 seater that was occupied by a young guy about 18 listening to loud music on his iPod. He was spawled all over the seat, so I just hovered over him to try to show my intentions, he didn't react, so I asked politely for him to move and he told me he didn't feel like it. So I sat in a squishy part left on the sit until he got the idea I was moving and gave me a few more inches.

Anyway I know that’s quite a tame experience and I have more but tell us about some of your public transport shockers.

When I lived in Sydney I used to walk to and from work, but had to cross the railway bridge at Petersham on my way to and from work. I had to lugg the pram up the stairs and down the other side, most mornings a guy would approach me and offer to help for $2 and then get extremely pissed off when I refused him...

I once had an old woman on my train try to rip out my eyebrow piercing because she "didn't like it."
I told her where to go.

one time on my way back from uni, was at flinders mid afternoon, got on the train which wasnt crowded at all. I walked over to a 6 seater which was empty, went to the far seat, stood for a second to take off my backpack to sit down, on my way down, and i hit something, a bag, look to the side, some lady had just come in sat in the middle seat and put her shit under me as i was sitting down. I look at her do a "what the" gesture / expression, she gives me that "im a bitch deal with it look", i just turn around sat on other side. I dont really care except, i dont understand these bitches on trains with the attitude i am sitting where ever the fuck i want. I think she then moved into the seat i was going to sit in. I just turned up my music really loud, pulled out the news paper.. the age :) and treid reading it with it taking up as much room as i could right in front of her.

But basically anyone who sits next to me that i dont know, when there are plenty of empty seats around. eg, being the only person in a 4 seater and the person chooses to sit next to me. Surely people dont like sitting next to strangers when they dont have to, dont they?

I just sit _on_ people.... but then again, I'm nudging 100 kilos... not too many people want to take their chances with a tenth of a tonne of grumpy bastard.

general annoyance, people who stand in door way at station, and block you leaving as they are in such a hurry to get aboard the train they cant wait for people to get out first.

used to take the el-trains when i was going to school. occasionally there was someone who would put their stuff right wher ei was sitting. i just would look at them, give the eyebrow and if teh stuff didnt move it got swept on teh floor.

most people aren't willing to argue with 125 kilos of (at the time) long haired leather jacket wearing guy that looks pissed off at somethign you just did.

then again, I was also the one who got up to let old people and pregnant women take my spot. had a few times some kids were standing and would try diving into the seat. they look at you funny when you physically pick them up off the seat and drop them on the ground. usually got wierd looks of shock at them at first when i said "hang up there a sec gramma, take my seat' as they were looking for an open one. is it something they didn't expect?

they should know that the soon you get off the train the soon they get on and the sooner the train will be on its way.

I am a 2 seat hogger (sorry) but if some one stops and asks me to move my crap I will and if they are old I will offer.

I unfortunately carry a lot with me on the train as i work and study. I end up carrying all my work equipment and my text books. this is to much crap to go on the floor between my legs and the seat infront.

Seating is not a problem though. as i travel against the flow and late at night.

there's nothing wrong with having stuff on the seat next to you as long as it aint taking a seat away from anyone else.
shits me when there's plenty of seats empty and someone asks you to move ya backpack off the seat sop they can sit down.

trains! trains are nothing! for 6 long goddamn years i caught 4 buses a day to school and back, fuck i hated those buses. half the time the driver didnt stop at my school when the buzzer was pressed, and the bus was full of obnoxioius little cunts that argued with the driver, threw shit out windows (which doesnt bother me until the driver sees it and pulls the bus over and waits 10 minutes for some bogan public school piece of shit to get off and walk). I FUCKING HATE BUSES

And all this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I now only use public transport if I plan on drinking. My motorbike does the job for everything else. There is only so much shit one can put up with.

In highschool I had to catch a 45 minute bus, and a 20 minute train, and a 15 minute bus... with LONG waiting periods in between.
It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to get to school
and either 2 hours, or two and a half... sometimes three to get home.
All of this happened in high school.

I've had someone spit on me at the train station
I've had some asian dude slap one of my friends across the face for being a dick.
I've been called a slut by leb fucks (would you use that language around your mother? no? then don't use it on a train)
I've had a hand up my skirt.
I've had a guy grab my crotch whilst sitting next to me on the bus (i was in year 7 and too in shock to do anything)
I've had a guy randomly grab my tit whilst walking past (it was NOT accidental)

On the upside, the first/last 45 minute bus trip was great... The bus drivers sometimes deviated from their route (i was one of the first people on, and last people off the bus) and would drive by my house to drop me home, or would wait if they saw me running down the street

Also one day whilst heading to work (this was when I worked in an office and wore high heels and skirts and blouses and had long black hair, etc) I lost my footing on the stairs into the bottom level of the train... I always hold onto the railings though... i hurt my arms pretty badly.... BUT... i got applauded by everyone who saw... cause I landed on my feet with a really loud CLAP sound (the kind of sound only high heels can make)

Public transport is both good and bad

Considering I'd been relying on it from when I was 12 through to 21... there are very few incidents...

PS. ALWAYS say thank you to buss drivers when you get your ticket and when you get off the bus (if you get off the front)... even if they're the nastiest bus driver you have ever seen... because they have to put up with so much abuse... its nice to be polite to people you often get angry at for things outside of their control

i have had a guy masturbate in front of me, i have been harassed on a full train, and him being a bricklayer - *scared*

i am not a confrontational person by nature, so i just try and blend into the background when on public transport, so i dont say anything when stuff gets done...

but travelling 6 hours a day on public transport (to and from uni), stuff is bound to happen...

these days its not usually too bad.

Not always that easy when you live out in the middle of nowhere (as Sapia's old residence was back then), you have to travel a long distance to get to a decent school. DumHed had the same thing as he lived at Sackville North until he was 16. It's a long way to BHHS from there.

Why didn't you change schools?

Because it was a selective highschool.
and the study was arranged in such a way (they were operating under a system known as Vertical Integration) that if I changed high schools I'd be screwed for the school certificate.

OOOH! i forgot NYE of 2000.... a guy masturbated on the train!

i regularly seem to get a tube that someone decides to jump under. the tube then just sits there for 20mins until the controller or someone decides we can get out, everyone is told not to look and that is just asking for it, its not pretty.

In Tokyo if a person commits suicide under a train their family is billed for the cost of cleaning them up

tokyo must be the suicide capital of the world. there was this one platform there that jumpers would love ecause it had a mirror on the opposite side of the platform and they go off on their reflection, it had to be removed. the chuo line is held up at least once a week, i remember it being delayed on the way to work and the way home, the same bloody day thanks to those wankers.

Had a crazy old guy start singing showtunes on a full bus. Then he turns around and goes at the top of his voice "Come on everyone!" and kept singing expecting people to join in with him. Noone did (obviously)

I've never laughed so hard and its the only time I've really pointed and laughed at someone who wasn't a friend I was giving the shits to.

And last week, the Brisbane city council is promoting my busline cos its times have been upped to every 15 minutes. For me, the bus is a place I can sit and read quitely, or think about stuff, but unfortunately three council dickheads jumped on the bus and attempted to forcibly make me and the rest of the passengers to "busercise" to make the ride more "fun". I gave them a mouthful about how their "fun" is fucking annoying and ruining one of the few times a day I have time to sit and read without having other stuff to do.

One guy applauded me, so that was my victory :D

I used to have a 50 minute train journey into London each morning. It sucked going in because by the time it got to my station, it was standing room only, and the only room left was to sit on the floor in the part of the carriage reserved for luggage and bikes.

It also travelled through the busiest rail junction in London, so most days it was delayed. Which wasnt so bad on the journey home except that I would fall asleep and 50% of the time I'd wake up past my stop ( One day I ended up 20 minutes from the seaside /grumble. )

I think the worst moments I have had on public transport have been when the door to the toilet is left open and the carriage fills with the stench of a stinky shit, or vomit. Oh, that and when a guy turned to sneeze and covered my face with a shower of spit. I wiped my face then wiped my hand on his leg and thanked him for his germs.

Not a horror but weird.

I was on the train home from uni today, it was about 8.30pm... fucking uni timetable.. anyways...
I had been reading the paper, my stop is coming up so i put that away and im putting on my hoodie to get off the train and i look up and see what looks like some guy looking at me. he's looking at me, then looking down doing somehting, then looking back. I think, is he drawing me?
I get up and he's where i have to go apst to get to the door, he moves towards me, asks me my name, i know so many people and never remember who they are... drink and various reasons.. so i'm like, brendan, cause he didnt look like someone that would be friends with friends of mine from how he was dressed, he's like, thanks. I ask if he was drawing me, and he's like yes. I laughed and told him to have fun.

isnt that weird?
I dont really care, he was drawing with like textas aswell i caught a glimps like cartoon sorta thing didnt really look like me, but isnt that weird?
why would u draw strangers?

i dont know if he was practising drawing people and he likes to draw good on him, but its weird.

i had a hot american chick draw me at a hostel in Amsterdam without me knowing. I then saw it later on and offered to draw her Titanic style but she declined
