In five days my car battery has gone flat, fucking sucks. I had to catch the bus to work, which in itself isn't that bad but catching the bus when it's still dark outside just reminds me of living in england (and who wants to be reminded of that :)). Looks like the NRMA will be getting a call tonight....

Fucking cars!!

How old is the battery? Got alarm?

I knwo on my bike the battery tends to die pretty quickly. The alarm sucks juice like a barstool so my generally-short trips don't keep it all that charged. I can only leave it somewhere in the vacinity of 1-2 weeks before it is flat. Car batteries should be MUCH better though.

This wouldnt happen in a car like the Shoonmobile dave. Damn my car is a beast!

Note: The above statement may or may not be true.

yeah... as thingy said, it shouldn't have gone flat in those few days you were away. Sounds like you have something that's sucking the juice (and not in a sexy way). I know in my old car I had a dodgy stereo which would flattern the battery if i left it plugged in, even if it was turned off.
You might have something that has bad wiring or something and is causing a drain. Or, if you have an immobiliser that might be the cause, but still, it shouldn't be draining the battery in such a short period of time....

Yeah I have a stereo and imobiliser. It's one of the two that is draining it. I don't notice it when I drive it everyday.

Damn the shoon-mobile is one sexy beast!! :)

my battery died last night. no immobiliser, no extra drain, just an old battery - but i got 5 and a half years out of it, so i'm pretty happy.
thank goodness my car's a manual, i was able to jump start it, and the good folks from my local garage came up the road and replaced it for me, all before 9am today :)

apparrently my car still has its original battery, a 91 magna battery. Maybe you should buy a 91 magna with original battery. I'll sell you mine for $7,000. It has a cd player and everything

Mate of mine borrowed his uncles car (his was being fixed). He told his uncle he was borrowing it to drive 1 hour across sydney to get to a mates bbq. Anyway he swings by and picks me up in his car and there we are driving along talking about crap and suddenly the car starts making a strange noise. Mate looks down and notices the engine temp is rising FAST. So we pull over and pop the bonnet. Massive crack in the radiator and no fluid left in it. NRMA arrive after about 2 hours and tell us the engine is probably pwned. My friend rings his uncle to tell him what happened and his uncle says:

"Oh yeah I noticed there was a hole in the radiator a couple of days ago, wasn't causing any problems driving up the shops so I didn't bother getting it fixed"

Nice one genius. He had to pony up for a new engine I think, totally rooted the thing overheating it that much. Took us about 6 hours to get to the bbq, Worst ....... Car trip ........ Ever

It's being repaired at the moment, but on the way back home from my job interview (Dec 9th 2003) I ran over a large nail and did the tyre in. My brother put the emergency wheel on that evening ( because Im weak and pathetic and didnt want to :p ) and I still had it on a 13 months later :p - I should get it back next week after a respray and , hopefully, 4 wheels that all match :)
