As some of you may know I have put my notice in at my current job. My boss is pretty pissed off and is now making my life difficult around the office. Hes riding me, has 2 sets of rules now...1 for me and 1 for eveybody else (eg everybody else is allowed to have mobiles and I am no allowed to have mine on me despite clients ringing me on it). Hes harrasing me as well (Not enough to make a complaint though)
Anybody know of a way I can leave before my 2 weeks are up? Any ideas?
Thanx in advance

Standing up and walking out the door usually gets the trick done
;)
Are you full time or under contract?
Are you financially liable if you do not come back?

If you are never, ever, ever going to use this place as a reference tell them you have a doctors appointment and never come back. If you have to use the place as a reference *just to provide dates you were there* then suck it up and realize that fuckt jobs are a part of life and ignore the prick.

forget prawn heads, they're too hard to carry around. a small bag of really stinky dried parmesan cheese sprinkled in a heating duct does wonders.
as far as other rules.. heres what you do.. put your feet up on the desk, put your hands behind your head, and tell your boss to lighten up, lest you start telling cleints whats really on your mind.

Once again Asmodeus brings the light of truth.
Your boss is obviously an idiot - in these last two weeks you are quite a risk to the company. Often places will offer leave to keep you out of the office since you no longer have any reason to play nice.
Start playing dirty (or threaten to - but remember to keep it between you and him!) Once he realises what you _could_ be doing, he should (if he has half a brain) lighten up.

have you got any sick leave left?
how much?
so long as you've got enough, and you have a doctors certificate... and telling your doctor about the behaviour of the boss and the stress it's putting you under, should be enough to cover you legally. the doctor will understand.
how much annual leave do you have owing to you?
confront him. tell him you don't appreciate the way you're being treated, so you might as well leave now. because if he wants to remain in YOUR good books then he better back off. ie: treat me like shit and i won't help you out with anything if clients come asking things that only i know the answer to.
if you can live on baked beans for a couple of weeks, plus the week or two before you get paid on the new job, then pack up and fuck off.
and we can start on our plans for world domination in your time off ;)

Hahahahah Deja vu, to myself just over a year ago.
I only stayed for the cash, so tempting to go out in style but in the end I needed the cash.
On the reference though, if you can, try and get one off someone above him. Especially if you have been working there for a while.
Do you have a job waiting for you? If not you will need that reference like a junky does smack.
Otherwise the next interviewer is free to assume that you were sacked due to your own problems, or no one would give you one.

Darkside some companies don’t pay sick leave once you have handed in your resignation.
You should of told them you are going to a direct competitor, that usually dose the trick around here.
The reason your boss is getting to you is because you still care. Stop it and be as difficult as you can. Start by working at least 3 hours less a day.. ½ hour late, at least 1.5 hours for lunch (go home and watch Jerry) and then leave early as you have dinner plans…. If you don’t make dead lines say that they were unreasonable and if the boss starts a heated conversation, start making personal attacks about his lack of management skills and threaten to go over his head.
Mess with his head and have some fun.. If he dosn't ask you to leave, at least you know you did cause him some problems.

Asmo and Darkside have the right advice. Personaly, I'd fuck with your boss. You're leaving so really there is fuck all they can do.
BUT!!
DON'T Do anything that can be recorded. Like don't send rude emails or do anything that can get back to you new employer. One guy did this back at ozemail and got told not to come to his new job because of it.
But still, just fart arse around. If the boss pisses you off, let them know exactly how you feel. Take really long lunches, come in late, leave early. If you get fired, the all better.. Unless you need the $$$

Then sit back and just happen to not work too fast. If you're friendly with the reference provider and they don't mind if you do, then bail if it gets too much.
Also use this second last week to borrow the stationary you like.

Naa seriously its frustrating atm. I dont really have much to do and I have been removed from all the major projects. Most of my stuff is waiting on clients. I dont wanna be here at the moment and the boss keeps asking me what am I am doing. I keep saying not much....wonder if he will get the message.
I'm borred and its shitting me up the wall.

You've handed in your resignation. You're leaving soon. Why the fuck do you care? If he yells at you, laugh. If he tells you off for having your phone on, laugh as you turn it off and wave byebye to the clients who contact you through it. Stop caring about hwat he says. It's not like it's your problem for much longer. He's the one who will have to clean it all up, not you. It's all his problem now.

Just be sure to stay professional and not to burn any bridges. I suggest walking into his office, opening his top desk drawer and taking a dump in it. Wiping your ass with his tie before strolling out the door is sure to get you remembered.

Goof off, fuck up and generally be a prick to everyone. If your boss has a problem, tell him, "What'cha gonna do? Fire me? Go for it. Means I won't have to wait the 6 weeks to get the dole and potentially hit up the Industrial Relations Tribunal for an unfair dismissal case, complete with thousands and thousands of dollars in compensation for the mental stress". Also, mention that you can't turn your phone off, because you're waiting to hear back from your cousin, the lawyer, who specialises in industrial relations.
The only reason your boss is a prick is because you let him get away with it. You've really got nothing to lose and if he doesn't do things by the books, you can get the industrial relations tribunal onto him, get a big cash settlement and generally give him a headache explaining the whole thing to his superior.
Or you should've done what all the cool kids are doing. Apply for 2 weeks paid vacation time, as soon as that's approved, just before you leave for your vacation time, hand in your resignation. If they've approved it and given you the paperwork, there's nothing they can do.
One reason why I hate you bastards who voted liberal. Before the year's out, you won't be able to do this shit. If your boss has a grudge against you, you're screwed. Fucking liberals. Fair dismissal laws my anus

Open your browser to a gun site and while wandering around the office mutter the following in a monotone voice.
"I am the angel of death, I have come to cleanse the earth"
else
Try to find as many online web based anonymous proxy sites as possible.
http://www.proxify.com is a good start. This is always good information to give to the one you will be leaving behind.
Also start looking for jobs for others in the office. One person leaving tends to spark ideas into others around you.
Nothing like half a department leaving to fuck productivity.
I have one tradition when leaving a company that has fucked management, a massive smoking burnout in the carpark on the last day.
*edit*
I just had another thought. A mate of mine put a large amount of KY on the ear piece of his boss's phone receiver. Impossible to detect untill the cool squelch fills one ear. He was on the phone to a client as well so he had to endure it for a good 5 mins before he could put the phone down.

Bwhaha
yes, i heard about this.
Personally, a mutiny amoung the other staff members does the trick.
:D
Does your boss have a boss? do you feel comfortable talking to them?
or be subtle, ask if its just you, or is the boss treating you a bit harsh now that you have handed in your resignation...
say it to a female...
she'll do all the gossip for you.

This is what I did in my last 2 weeks at the old job.
- Violated the dress policy by rocking up wearing whatever I felt like. (It was Summer, so I was in t-shirts and shorts most of the time.)
- If I was asked to do anything I responded with "Nah. Not today."
- Edited the Intranet so my name linked to a popup spawner.
Feel free to build on this.

My exit was less spectacular, as I was asked to leave in a hurry.....
so, I thought Id go out with a bit of noise. Part of my area of support was a public library which had about 30 pcs for the customers to use. These were all secured to desks with targus combo locks...the ones that make a HUGE noise if someone tampers with them, (u can c where this is going huh!). As I had been removed from the building within 30mins of giving notice, I figured what the hell.
I paid some kid $10 to go and change all the combo locks to a different combo. Then got him to run through the building, shaking every pc as he went. One of those bad boys going off is enough to make you want to leave the building...30 of them was hilhairyass....and noone knew the combo to shut them down.
Best $10 I ever spent.

Is this Paris you're talking about? I heard of that one too. Sent an email abusing all the people he worked with, management etc. One of hte people happened to know someone at the place he was going to, so made a call. He was then told not to bother turning up at the new place.
This guy is an absolute fucking moron though. Completely clueless and braindead. He managed to get a job with Computer Associates on their Arcserve helldesk, took me 3 months of dealing with him to fix a problem I was having. Didn't take me long to figure out what the problem was, but I had no idea how to fix it. After 3 months when I FINALLY found how to fix it, he STILL didn't understand what the problem was - not even when I told him the solution.

This reminds me of my last 2 weeks at shitty company I hated. Mangaed to take a peice of hardware or two everynight and build myself a new PC from it.
I also focused on pissing the people off who hard made the job such a nightmare. It was great being relied on to solve most technical problems. I would be all "I'll look at if after this I am to busy at the moment", whilst lookign at stupid shit on the internet.
Also partipated in the long lunches, late morning and early leavings.
Try not to burn any bridges on the way out as you never know what may happen in the future. Stay professional I know it is hard in the last fews weeks were they take all responsibility off you and you essentially have nothing to do. Just focus on your new position and think just 10 working days to go and you free. :pir8dan:

I just quit my job today which was seriously the hardest thing to do. I love my job and the people in the place, but I was approached by another company offering ALOT more money and a fresh new start with something new to learn. My current place of work is progressing but I felt that I wanted to push myself and get a new lease on things and that leaving was the best way to motivate and improve.
Has anyone else been in this situation? have been feeling pretty shitty about quitting and my bosses were great about it, even telling me that if this new place doesnt work out, I'm welcome to come back. This is what I'm leaving. am I doing the right thing????

Yeah I went through the same thing when I was working at the council, it was the hardest thing to do was telling everyone I was leaving and I had only been there for 6 months. The new job didn't really work out for me thou, but in the end I found an even better job so I am really happy.
Plus the intermediate job gave me an oppurtunity to have more time to myself and pass my LPI exam which was soemthing I really wanted to do.
It is tough leaving, but once you start the new job you will soon forget about as it will present new opputunities and you will meet new people. The first few weeks are the toughest trying sniff out the office politics, and which people are nice and which are tools. But that is why it is exciting.
