Yeah. I have to say that this was probably the weakest episode they've done to date, and I've seen them all. If they start having many more like this I fear it will begin to have an impact on the show.

This show was pure filler, nothing more.

Still, that being said, the writing is still more engrossing than a lot of other stuff on TV today. It's problem is that it just doesn't live up to the show's own standards.

im about to watch the episode.

this season, there are interesting stuff, the other survivors, the bunker, but its being slow. And the flash backs, it seems like they have nothing else to do. Locke's was ultimately pointless. Michaels was pointless. Hurleys was pointless. Jacks was the only interesting one, but in the end. Like we know Michael was away from his son.... we know hurley was won lottery, Locke, locke got laid, and we knew he was shitty cause of what his dad did... We want to see how locke got in wheel chair, we wanna know how he learnt how to track and hunt and shit, why he has so much faith. I really feel as if they have no more idea's for the back storys. Its a great divice for slowing the movement of the story on the island.. but they are going to have to cut it down if they cant make it interesting or they'll ruin the show. Whats the bet the next kate one is her on the run again, no explanation of why.

Just watched it then, not much happened but it was still good but...

There are other "others" now? Great. So unexplained stuff on the island - others, smoke monster, polar bear, mechanical thing, massive monster that killed dude in plane, invisible whispers, visions of dead people, locke's legs getting better, the numbers, scientists from before getting "sick" etc etc. Do they really need to keep introducing more shit with no explanation? What's a bet the dudes on the boat that took Walt aren't others either... What sucks is there's no way all of it ties together unless they go "the whole island was a place where the Darva institute experimented with weird scientific stuff".

Did anyone notice in the hospital flashbacks that Jack walked by Shannon, and this was the same accident that Jack's future wife was in. Jack's wife hit Shannon's dad head on. Jack had to make a decision on who to save and he saved his future wife and let Shannon's dad die.

I have a feeling that Jack is going to have to pick between Shannon and Sawyer on which to save first.

they could have explained more in the episode. Interesting though, was expecting their time on the island to be made out alot harder, struggling to survive and stuff.

from previous episodes this season the whole, "they dont leave footprints" and Mr Eko knowing they were near and hiding with jin as they walked past, and obviously the two kids were there, as it was the same teddy bear.. but with that it implied they had alot more contact with the others and hiding and so forth, that was never explained and i thinks a pretty big whole.

As they move into the middle run of episodes, the producers are definitely emphasizing the Jack-Kate-Sawyer romantic triangle again with the level of sexual tension between those three characters is definitely being ramped up. How will Ana-Lucia figure in? "She is a woman; she will have romantic entanglements. But I think the one that will begin to emerge over the season will be the one that you least expect".

I just watched episode 2 x 7 (The Other 48 days), and am happy to report that it's stopped the suck that has permeated the last couple of episodes, after such a nailbiting initial three.

It completely explained Ana Lucia's motivation and behaviour, and you can see that what happened at the end of 2 x 6 was just an accident........although Sayid is going to make the doughnuts.

That sounds like you're using a demo of DVD Santa. I think I used the Lol torrent and mine was ok. I'd suggest you get Winavi and use that instead, you can set it to 4:3 or 16:9 and there's some other options too obviously, plus it's fast as fuck at converting.

Tonight's episode was a good one from the standpoint of character development, although it did little to nothing in terms of pushing the overall island/mystery plotline forward. This was one of those flashback filled episodes that I actually enjoyed. I don't mind the flashback driven installments so long as they are used to flesh out the characters and their motivations. It's when they are clearly used as filler to stretch out the island story that grates on me.

However...... judging from the closing preview of next week's show, THAT one looks to be one not to miss. They showed Michael (the architect) discovering blast doors in the bunker that descend from the roof sealing it off from the outside, and teased that something was going to happen to cause the timer clock to tick down to zero without being reset.

watched last weeks episode last night, fairly decent episodes, but i really dont like that Anna-Lucia character and id be surprised if anyone does. I read they're going to change her around for a dislikable character to a likable one, but how on earth would they do that? She's mental and a murderer. Only way i can see that happening is if she gives her self to save other survivors, so my guess is she wont be on the show for more than a season or 2. SHe's too big an actress and there's too many cast members already. Only interesting new ones Mr Eko and that because there's mystery behind him, like how there was with the characters last season.

In the season final, we learn that Sayid was responsible for the planes crash. He was motivated by how he was manipulated into turning on his terrorist friend who then killed himself, that he was going to take part in a terrorist act by himself. On board the plane he snuck below deck into the avionics compartment and using his Iraqi electornics millitary skills fucked around with the planes systems. Hence why it went of course, and then eventually crashed.

So what happened last episode. Syaid and Anna made a "truce" he's killed plenty and from her flashbacks she too is a cold blooded killer.

Jack went to see Anna without a gun. He and Anna were made to appear that more than drinks in an airport bar had passed between the two.

I cried when the black lady who swore her husband wasnt' dead...they were reunited. Was very touching.

Alot of shows, it seems are doing this. On Monday Surface aired it's last new episode until January, and, of course, Battlestar Galactica seems to have set the record, airing the first half of season 2 this past summer and resuming airing the second half in January.

so what do people think about the others after this most recent episode?
Obviously it seems they just happened to crash on a section of the island that isnt that important, and its the north part of the island where they are based. Maybe they also have things on the other side of the island where the tailies were..
But what i dont get is, how come Rouseau never saw or encourntered them? surely she must have explored the island to some extent????

but biggest thing im thinking is, why are they letting them survive???

also what connection do the others and Dhama or shit have with outside world? Obviouslty such things as the bunker was stocked with things from the outside world.

I'm not sure about that. I think the stuff they showed about Sawyer was necessary to build him up to be the "bad guy" he's turning out to be. He kind of went soft for a bit so they had to re-establish the type of person he was.

I consider the last episode a pretty big turning point in the story. I mean we have people like ****SPOILER!!!!!**** Charlie hurting people (Sun) to get back at others plus he's conspiring with Sawyer to con the others.

It woud have felt pretty out of the blue for Sawyer if they hadn't have spent an episode showing what he's really like. :) That's just my opinion anyways.

After watching episode S2 EP14, all I can say is I'm growing weary of both the teasing and the flashbacks. It's time for this show to start delivering on shit, instead of dancing around the flame like a moth. Watch the episode and you'll know what I mean. Plus, would it be so fucking difficult for them to can the flashbacks for a few episodes sprinkled throughout a season, and just push the island story along a little quicker? How many damn times do we need to revisit the fact that Charlie was a junkie, Jack was a doctor, Sawyer a con artist, and Sayid a torturer? A few months back I would have disagreed strongly with the above statement. What a difference time makes. Up_All_Night's bang on here. The flashbacks were/are good ONLY when they contribute to the actual island story, as in the case when Jack encountered that fellow from the bunker years prior to the crash, or even when they suprised the hell out of everyone by revealing that Locke was a cripple (everything, even the way the photographed the flashbacks keeping his wheelchair hidden and never showing him standing - was brilliant), but for the most part, the flashbacks have become nothing more than filler material designed to stretch out what is starting to emerge as a very thin island story.

It's a finite series, only intended to last 22 episodes. Cos' it would be stupid either dragging it out for 5 years, or completely reinventing it at the end of the current story arc.

In my opinion, Lost is the flashbacks. I tend to care more about where the characters have come from than what's happening on the island. Admittedly this could be a reaction to the slow pace of events on the island compared to the amount of details you get on the past histories of the characters...

Season 2 Episode 15 - finally the mother of all episodes!

Much, much better than even the season 1 hatch cliff-hanger, and at minimum an equal to the Season 2 debut that revealed the inside of the hatch - and possibly even better than that.

Plus - oh the joy - no flashbacks. Yes, you heard it here folks. None. At least not in the traditional sense. Absolutely everything in this episode was island-centric and within the timespan of their landing there. Yes, they revealed a hell of a lot, but in typical fashion, this raised more questions than they resolved.

This whole Dharma Initiative is looking to be far bigger, and craftier, than (I think) most of us thought.

Whatever you do, folks, and no matter how much you've started to get put off from the show's meandering of late, DO NOT pass up torrenting this episode. You won't regret it.

Of course, there is a downside. After blowing their wad in this beast of an episode, there won't be a new one aired in the US until March 22.

I'm absolutely convinced that Henry Gale is one of the others - the smile he had on his face at the end of the episode after manipulating Locke into losing his temper gave it away. He's clearly a plant designed to destabilise the group.

one thing which is odd.. the bunkers, just little ones here and there, the whole set up doesnt make any logical sense. There really has to be something connecting them all....

and the costumes, id assume they have many copies of each costume hidden all around the island or in eachof their bunkers, just incase they need to put them on for disguises and to intimidate anyone on the island...

see i think thats incorrect.. its on a video on one of those dhama sites or something.. which i assume cant be assumed as fact. Also the videos old, so could possibly be out of date. Further more was it said in a podcast or somewhere that the arrow bunker is meant to be more a storage locker??? Oh and wasnt the video just 5 stations or something.. they could each have many bunkers..

my guess is there's a large complex in the north part, and just scattered smaller ones for use for one speciific task at a time around the place.

But like shit, it wouldnt surprise me if on the north part of the island there's like a whole normal above ground village haha...

my take on it is that if they reveal themselves it will ruin the experiment they are conductinng. if the survivors were aware that they were being observed for the sake of science it would change the way they acted and therefore negate the experiment.

Nup, I think the costumes are more of a way to keep the survivors from knowing what is really going on with the island. The Dharma employees dress as "the others" to scare the survivors from venturing to the north section. Even though it seems like the survivors were all "called" to flight 815, it's more of a coincidence. If you're on a plane that crashes on a deserted island, of course you'll have some kind of connection to at least one other person on the plane, be that seeing them before, meeting them at a party, being somehow blood related etc. And of course for each person there will be events that lead to them getting on the plane, however strange - that's the way life works :roll:

My take is that Dharma is it's a large illegal scientific experimental facility on a remote uncharted island. They don't want any authority knowing what's going on, so a boat crashes, they infect the people with a virus to kill them off without any suspicion or chance of someone escaping. A plane crashes, there are too many people to control with an infection, so they herd them onto one section of the island, maybe keep an eye on them to study group dynamics in a situation like that? Meanwhile, they have many people to choose from for their own experiments, including small children and babys. Presumably these experiements are psychological in nature - ie, behavioural experiments as was hinted at in the video - for which the ideal subject is an unborn baby with no outside influence. Give the baby some kind of vaccine so that should anything happen, they can infect the population and be sure the baby survives to participate in round 2 of whatever experiment was done on the crazy lady's baby.

Also notice how the really weird shit has stopped happening - no polar bears or anything like that since the first few days after they landed.

yeah see im also of the thinking, Dharma dont want to be discovered, hence why they didnt just call a rescue for them. Or maybe not that they dont want to be discovered, they could be well known by goverments, part of other things but secrecy is very important. Cant be disclosed to the general public.
One other option i was thinking, what if there's a big charade that the island is contaiminated and operations are shut down. The whole Island a quarantine zone for security., underground hidden facilities, so if anyone lands on island, flys over, it looks devoid of humans. Remember there was a US military knife, maybe they were tried to be stopped for what they were doing, and so have moved to a way to remain hidden that they are still operating.

the problem is, if you're a secret organisation or operation, why stamp your logo on absolutely everything.

An incident in the episode before last, specifically where Jack had Locke pinned against the wall giving him the choice of either passing on the strong room combo or letting the countdown pass without the entering the numbers unconvincing.

I am strongly of the opinion that Locke would absolutely smack Jack around like a little bitch. He's older, but he's meaner, and has a bit more bulk to throw around. Emo-Jack would not have stood a fucking chance.
