I've been noticing that every now and then we get news items that get 50 posts to them or more, and was thinking that if news items get a lot of people discussing in them, they should be moved to whichever forum that suits them best, rather than just being closed to discussion when they scroll down past the end of the front page.

Its a good idea. I have meant to do it myself in the past.
But unless I subscribe to it, when the article moves off the front page I keep forgeting about it.:)

It would save opening new threads on the same subject again ie Terri whatshername threads.

In my day, we didn't have forums. We had poofy town cryers who wor pantaloons that were just way too tight..

News Archive

The only difference is that the News Articles forum doesn't pop up in the top 4 no matter how recently the last post was, but I think a lot of poeple don't tend to look past those 4.

You know, i'd like a fat ass version of the '5 recent posts' thing,

that just lists chronologically every post that's been made since forever (naturally only a few at a time)

I agree....some of the best threads develop in the News Forum....but die because they are not present in the recent posts box....why is it so?

well they don't show up there cos there's manmy posts and so as not to spam up the feature with news comments, but if we have a big fat ass recent post thing, that could include everything...

Cray beat me to it, although I would have called you all faggots instead of fags.

use the 'new posts' link, fags.

fuck, isn't that how everyone does it?

if i had to check each individual forum for new posts i'd go insane. "new posts" makes it really convenient

Its more about the active thread...during the day I usually monitor the most recent threads that appear in the box at the top of the classic skin. If someone alters/adds to a news item - I have to search to discover it....but if someone adds to a "I confess" for example....I see it instantly.

Its not difficult to work around....but the technology exists...why have a dog and bark?

I prefer to be called NutMan rather than fag :fag:

just keep hitting the 'new posts' button every 5-10 minutes

That's what I do to.

I'm with DOGG on this one. I thought that's how everyone does it.

the only problem with that is that you have to take care to not click on world of warcraft threads.

on that note, i vote that we change this thread to suggest the ability to ignore certain forums and subforums.
