I'm trying to get a job in a computer store in the western suburbs or the city.

I can assemble hardware, swap parts, install OS/drivers/software, troubleshoot problems, attend to customers, etc. But my biggest skill would be designing systems based on price range and individual customer needs.

I have all-round computer knowledge and am self taught. If you know anyone or own a store yourself, please give me a shot :)

It's not a pc shop but I know Hewlett-Packard are hiring at the moment. I know because I recently started with them and we were in a meeting today talking about getting more people in. Give it a try, you never know your luck. What qualifications and experience do you have?

Great, thanks for the info. What kind of work is it?

Unfortunately i have only minimal experince. Worked for a month in a computer outlet. I handled some invoices and rang up clients telling them about offers. Put together some hardware, scanned, photocopied stuff. Variety of work really but nothing big.

My highest qualification is VCE. I done computer subjects in years 11 & 12. Mostly i'm self taught. Basically everything i know about computers i found out through curiosity, personal experience, etc. I have no papers to prove my knowledge but i reckon i know more than people who done courses.

The project I am on at the moment is to upgrade about 2500 pcs to WinXP and migrate the users data across. Of the 2500 there is about 500 here in Victoria, not sure of the breakdown in other states.

Sounds good. Where abouts is it located? I'll be gone for a day or two after this. If it's within a reasonable distance, i will apply.

The customer has several sites around the CBD and a few in country areas. Some of the country sites will be fun, drive for a few hours, do an upgrade on two or three pcs and drive back.
