The yellow flower was the only one that really had something brilliant in it. The rest seemed dull and uninspiring. I kind of liked the fence with the city behind it, but I doubt you had any major intentions for such an interpretation.

When possible while taking photo's of things like flowers, turn the flash off, you can tell where the colours look washed out up close and you have lost some of the natural shades. It looks a little unnatural and some flowers are brighter than others cause the flash was brighter on some. good job though.
tomorrow if i remember at work i will post some examples that i have taken of some frangapannies.
I think you've just inspired me to go out and take some random photos of things, might try some long-exposre style shots tonight.
cool thx for criticism/advice :) i should really carry my camera around as i've missed out on some pretty cool stuff.
Alot of these photos were just experiments. I just took them to see how it would look.

That is the best way to learn, keep it up.

You have some nice flowers in the house/garden.
The lighting for the flowers on the coffee table needs to be more uniform, the dark background and clutter of objects distracts.
The yellow flower has lots of potential, but is cut off. Try centering on the stamen and get that really fractal look that nature does so well.
The last group of three flowers has cut off one of the flowers. If you can include the whole of the three then the eyes have somewhere to wander and some space to rest.
The second landscape would be best with a horizontal horizon.
I really like the first of the man-made shots.
Having said all that I really struggle with composition and seeing everything that is in the frame.
Have you entered the photo competition?
wow, lots of advice there thx :)
While there are some nice flowers in those shots, only the 3 red and the 2 purple ones are at my house.
I'm planning on entering. Just waiting for a reply to a question in the april photo comp thread.

Criticism for Dogg:
You look ugly
You talk with a funny accent
You need to stop having sex with dead fish bought at the market
Oh was it criticism for your pictures? My bad.

For the flowers, get a sheet as a background, or clean up the background. (or focus closer on the flower and lower your depth of field. You want to emphasize the flower not what is going on behind it.
you call that criticism directed? you're just stating the obvious. plus you forgot that i smell.
