I click on these interesting headings and find myself knee deep in something akin to D&D shit.

And then I end up reading the whole stinking thread.

I know there's plenty more bones to pick. But I'll leave that for other brave souls to join me in my anti-WoW quest. I know you're out there, I had a rant and rave elsewhere and got rep for it. And was encouraged to take it further.

And if you're a WoWser then don't even bother reading this thread. You may be tempted to make a post. And then it'll just turn ugly.

To answer your question, I could give up anytime. I just don't want to. I enjoy getting home from work. Plus no one says you can't have a beer and play at the same time.

Write music, mix music, go for a ride, go out with friends, post on zgeek/other forums etc. Like you said, to each their own. I don't want to start playing a game that will quickly become an addiction that doesn't stop - there's no end to WoW. I've got an addictive personality, and I know that no matter how gay I think "+7/-4 this or that" sounds, I would probably become addicted to WoW, hence I avoid it.

I played (and still play) IRL D&D for years. And LOTR Risk as well..... WoW is just another way of getting into it. And yes, I read MANY fantasy books, so I'm right into elves and dragons and magic and quests and shit.

Hi, My name Is Aaron and I am a WoW addict. I guess it started as a general craving to play the game and get that sweet sweet levelup, but soon turned to pure addiction and found myself playing for well over 12 hours straight. I have WoW, and played it a lot. But I don't think it's the best game ever, and that's sorta what I hate about it. Well, more that people go on and on how it's the best game ever. It's good for sure, but I find it remarkably one dimensional. Kill stuff, get xp points, get money, buy stuff, kill more stuff and repeat.

Add that:
1. You have to put stacks of hours in to get anywhere, and yet still get nowhere
2. It costs 15 bucks a month to keep playing
3. There's always a bunch of hardcore uber-nerd knobs who feel the need to be as humanly annoying as possible when grouping.
4. 1337 speak. I hate it.

Just seems to me the hype is somewhat unjustified. It's just another game as far as I'm concerned...

What happens when you have 1/2 an hour to kill?? there's no point logging into WoW, cause that 1/2 hour would achieve dick all. If I am paying a subscription to a game, I want to get the most playtime out of it as possible, including those times when you have 1/2 an hour to kill, so get in a game and have instant action. To me, that just doesn't happen in an RPG. That is the main reason I stick to FPS's.

I lived with the announcements of every bloody new release or patch or whatever of Wow for ages but honestly, how many WoW stories on the homepage over the past few months have been what one would consider "news"?
