Base officials said 25,000 soldiers came to hear the commander in chief. As the Marine One helicopter carrying Bush came in for a landing, the pilot circled the enormous crowd crammed shoulder-to-shoulder on a base parade field, waving hand-held American flags.

The president made his way through the mess hall serving line, piling a plate with fried chicken, collard greens and macaroni and cheese.

He was meeting privately with the families of about 30 soldiers who have been killed before leaving the base. Ft. Hood has lost 146 soldiers in Iraq, according to Fort Hood spokesman Lt. Col. Dan Baggio.

I plan to fly C130's. I major role of the aircraft is transport of defence hardware & troops, along with humanitarian aid. ie I fly stuff to where its needs to go. What I fly in my plane and how it is used, is not up to me, and nor is it my problem. I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm not pulling the trigger or pressing the detonate button. If it's a humanitarian effort, I highly doubt I will have a problem with that.

Y'know, it's SO weird; here I was at 17 being handed a FREE 4-5 year Uni degree at the infamous Tom Cruise AirForce academy in colorado springs - in anything I wanted because I scored so high on their tests (dunno which ones, but I had 2 congressman nominate me) that they practically begged me. I didn't know you were an american ex-pat, and therefore had limited knowledge on the ANZAC landing. However, you should not diss you home-land like that. They may do many things that you don't like, however, you would not be the person you are today unless you were raised in the USA. I don't think it is fair that people blame the USA for everything war related.

I'm not a soldier either. I am joining as a pilot. There is alot of a difference between a soldier and a pilot. I'm joining as I'm unable to afford pilot training any other way. As well, i enjoy a structured life style, hell, i may even love being in the military. When you want to help victims of a natural disaster, guess who will be the first in there. The military. They are not exclusively used for killing people, there is also the humanitarian side which alot of people seem to easily forget.

I couldn't care less. If i said something you didn't like, de-rep me for it. The system is there, so why not use it? You give out rep, so why not de-rep aswell?
