I like my job, it's fun interesting, I like most of the people in the offices. Well one of our state contracts has decided to 'privatise' some of its operations to save money and 'improve service to the public'. The govenor is laying off people near retirement because he wants people who are in the 'computer generation'.

So they have chosen this management company to take over a big chunk of the operation in my area and what a bunch of ignorant, arrogent, assholes. I'm glad I have decided that I don't have to be nice to these guys, it has reduced my stress level enormously. These guys are supposed to be the 'computer generation' (some of them look younger than my kids), well they need to buy a clue. How hard is it to understand that they need one power outlet and one ethernet connection per computer, and that both need to be in the general vicinity of said computer. Is that a difficult concept or something. I'm begining to wonder if these guys might have failed counting in kindergarten and were just promoted the rest of they through school. Yesterday I was talking to one of these guys on the phone while I had my boss on the cell phone trying to explain again why I could not finish setting up the system. When I got back to my boss he just laughed. What could I do? This was my third trip to the office explaining the same thing. One of the question this guy asked me while I was on the phone was "Does the server have to be plugged in?" What the fuck kind of question is that? I had just yelled at the guy that morning for turning the breaker off for the server every day at 5:00 in another office. Didn't he notice the high pitched alarm coming from the UPS when he did that? If these guys are supposed to represent the 'computer generation' we are seriously fucked.
