Ok *first of all*, iv got nothing against indians as a whole. My last job my two colleagues were indian, blah blah blah.. good blokes. if the assholes in my tafe class were asian.. id say "The fucking asians in my class".. if fat, "the fucking fatasses in my class". etc.

moving on.

I hate the indians in my class.

They talk non stop during class, including when the teacher is giving instructions / lectures, and in tests until they are endlessly warned to shutup. One of our many alias's for these guys is "Background 1, background 2.." because really, they are the background noise of the classroom.

They dont pay *any* attention in class. never. I have seen one of them countlessly looking at an indian matchmaking sight.. or playing video games. Now.. in class sometimes me and the guys play starcraft ourselves.. but we also pay attention, and know what the hell is going on. they never, ever do.

When asked to stop playing internet games and pay attention, two minutes later they are playing games again.

When asked a question.. they dont know. in fact, its the *ONLY* time they ever shutup.

Having proven they dont know the answer, and are asked to stop playing internet games.. as soon as the teacher starts speaking.. what do you think they do? thats right.. play games again. Its so amazingly stupid its comical..

CHEATING.

They got caught cheating in our communications assignment.. copying eachothers work. Got a warning or something, had to redo their work.

This tuesday just gone, we had a java test. Next day our teacher mentions that they had *Exact* same variable names.. that the variable names made no sense, and that they all had the *same* logic error.

*AND Yet*, because he didnt actually *see* them cheat, he cant bust them.

On the Wednesday,hardware test, this time the teacher splits them up into 3 seperate corners of the room.

A few minutes into the test the stupidest of the 3 goes up and mumbles something to the teacher. The teacher replies loudly so we *all* hear (heheh), "No, I cannot tell you what IRQ stands for. Your suppost to know."

The tosser mumbles some more, but eventually gets it through his thick head he isnt going to get any help.. so shuffles back to his table, and a minute later hands in his test, 20 minutes earlier than anyone else.

Wankers.

I am usually very indifferent to other people.. I either like people, or they dont exist.. I dont usualy harbor negative emotions towards people..

but fuck.

Granted, I also consider Indians and Pakistanis to be more or less the same. Pakistan was part of India until just after the end of WWII, culturally there isn't all that much difference either except for that Pakistan is a majority muslim country.

it's my understanding that the reason some of them smell is because the main ingredient used in most their cooking is curry as most know. they use it so much and at such temperatures when cooking, slowly starts to seep into their pores. when some start to perspire(sp?) the odor is released.

now my question is, are there any indian zgeeks reading this forum and if so...what are you guys thinking??????

Seriously though: Yes, i do feel the statements (esp the odor ones) to be slightly racist- I mean, just because one isn't directly racist, and 'claiming' that they're not racist doesn't mean their words aren't giving that impression and hurting people of a certain race.

But the fact remains that animals have a tendency to form tribes and stick to their own kind; It takes a real human being to look beyond that bare animal instinct and reach out to other 'tribes' and accept them. That is why discrimination is a very individual thing based on individual discretion (but usually instilled in ones upbringing). Even Indians can be discriminatory; Just look at how the indian culture is riddled with the whole caste system (which can, to this day be seen in many areas).

I heard a saying a while ago, which i'm forgetting now, but it was something along the lines of "We hate things we are scared of and we are scared of things we dont know about" -- or it may have been very different :\ Therin lies the brunt of the issue; our comments are usually due to ignorance of the reality of other cultures. If there really was a "bad" culture, no one would subscribe to it -- no one claims their own culture as being wrong because they have a deeper understanding and appreciation of it.

The odor issue is something i've experienced with alot of practicing hindu indians (i'm not hindu, and i've never lived in india in my life; so call me racist if u like) and as bezerk rightly said, it is due to their religious rituals (their use of burning essences etc) which all together makes for quite a horrid smell on occasions. Curry on the other hand has nothing to do with personal BO, it might smell while cooking/eating, but the smell of curry or other indian food doesn't linger on AFAIK. Also remember that garlic, onions etc are not exclusive to indian foods either.

Okay, so I'm aware that what I said was racist - I knew that when I posted it. Although my post was in a light hearted manner, and not intended to be taken seriously, I would just like to point out that it was only because, in my rather limited experience, they did smell slightly more than the average person. I had assumed this was because of some inherent genetic trait, or because of their lifestyle. Also, because I live in an area populated majorly by white europeans, and they tend to be racist to the extreme (I am one of the much, much lesser racist people there) I fear that perhaps some of their attitudes may have rubbed off. But most importantly, I don't treat them any differently from the average person, no matter how much they stink/look different. I TRY to treat everyone equally. :)

The chick and him are having a convo, and the teacher says "Stop talking"... they do, then start up 30 seconds later...

In the end the teacher said "If I catch you 2 speaking again, you will fail the test, these 3 courses, and have to repeat my classes at the end of your tafe semester".... and they shut up...

Now, the chick puts her hand up and asks about setting up DNS aswell, so she calls the teacher over, and asks for help.... he said pretty loudly "This is a test, I CANNOT help you"... so she has the nerve to turn around and say "Yes you can help me", and in the end the teacher walked off and left her there at the PC.

Because by not listening they missed out on one critical thing in class that the teacher ALWAYS stressed.... That you have to be running an NTFS partition, not a FAT32 before installing DNS and Active Directory, so they both have to redo the test again, for a pass mark only.

What's even funnier is how the guy said to me afterwards "I wonder while I failed"... and I just said "because you dont listen in class, and you're always playing games"... he shut up after that...

One of my best friends is indian. The ladies always comment on how good he smells and usually within 5 seconds of them saying this he's making dirty ruben love to them in some dark corner.
