After being out of the dating scene for 19 years, I'm back in it.

So I signed up for one of those online dating sites (yeah, yeah I'm pathetic). I met a girl. Actually she initiated contact with me. Introduced herself etc. I reciprocated, gave her the readers' digest condensed version of who I am. I mentioned that I like to write poetry. She wrote back that she thought that was quite a coincidence. She had been talked into buying tickets to a benefit show of cowboy poetry and music, and she didn't want to waste the tickets would I like to go with her.

I was kind of freaked out. This seemed too easy. The things she told me about herself sounded too good to be true. She sells real-estate part time and has her own business (a retail gifty type shop). She's well educated, comes from a good background..basically really has her shit together and all I could envision was some fat, balding, 48 year old man living in his parents' basement posting in his underware to fuck with me. I was very apprehensive about going, but in the end decided I am a big boy and can take care of myself, so I agreed to go.

Normally, I wouldn't even consider attending anything with the word 'cowboy' in it, but quite frankly my cock is sore from all this fapping so I couldn't tolerate another night of that.

I met her at her store Saturday evening. I was very relieved that she was the same person I had seen in the online picture. We rode in her car to the event, made small talk, it went well. The show was good in a family oriented show kind of way. Funny and good entertainment. In fact, it brought back alot of memories from my youth. I was very glad I came. She was too. On the way back, she asked me "Did that inspire you to write poetry?"

I said "No.......are you a Nirvana fan?"

"OMG, I love Nirvana" she said

"Most of my inspiration came from the Kurt Cobain Journals"

"OMG! You READ the KCG..I did too, that is so cool"

Really good rapport going on here. She suggested we go to the bar for drinks and listen to the band. I was definately game for at least the drinks so I agreed. At the bar, she had a group of friends. She introduced me and I meshed really well with her friends. The band played a mix of C/W and classic rock. When they started, lots of people were dancing. She said something about she can't two-step. I said something back about that was good, cause neither do I. She said "I like to go to the mosh pit"

I was like "No WAY!" I like that too.

Further discussions revealed that we have alot in common. We both like the same kinds of foods, both like hockey..really, really good stuff going on here.

About 1am she had had enough of drinking, so we left. On the way back to our cars, she suggested that I come home with her and crash on her couch to avoid the 45 mile nerve shattering death ride home through a winding canyon in my present (intoxicated) condition. No way I was gonna pass up that offer. We went to her place, sat up and talked and watched Comedy Central for a while. Said our good-nights, she said I should call her, I got a good-night hug, it was great.

I had an early morning commitment so unfortunately I had to get up early, but I made sure to tell her goodbye. I left with a smile from ear to ear and that stuck with me most of the day.

So if you've read through all of that, how soon is too soon to call. I'm thinking Tuesday I will call. I must be a 'tard posting on an internet forum for romance advice that should be common knowledge to anyone over the age of 15

Send her hockey tickets for a game this weekend. Sports dates can be good fun especially if you throw in a few brews before during or after the event. Besides all that healthy competition and crowd action is a perfect way to elevate the adrenalin levels in preparation for the grecco roman wrestling to follow in the boudoir.

Send her a note with a copy of the KCJ inviting her to dinner at a place that serves the cuisine you cite as being something in common you share.
