Hi guys, just thought I would drop a line in and let you know that on Saturday night at around 9pm I proposed to my girlfriend of 4 years, the reply was an emphatic yes and we are as happy as can be. The last couple of days have gone by so fast with many people dropping in and calling to wish us well.
For Perth-ites who are curious the happy event occurred under the big palm trees next to the Anzac memorial up at King's Park. The big event occurred of course after a delightful dinner at Fraser's restaurant.
If anyone wonders what makes the 23rd special it was our 4 year anniversary.
I will probably drop in tomorrow to soak up any congratulations and receive the appropriate levels of +rep loving. :1337:

Congratulations hope your life together is happy and fulfilling.
Just curious though what constitutes your aniversary being the 23rd what is it the actual aniversary of?
My wife and I used to have this discussion she used to run the clock from the night we met I counted from the first night I remember us shagging. Two different dates. So what is the 23rd the anniversary of for you guys?

If you are going to show us her ring, maybe you should take a quick look at this (http://forums.zgeek.com/showthread.php?t=33425&highlight=paint) thread first....

Thanks, not yet though we have started planning the engagement party. We have set ourselves a time limit of 1 year to get it all done, but my Rebecca is an awesome planner & organiser so things will move pretty quickly.

It was the night of our first date. We had met around two weeks before but we both consider the 23rd to be the start of our relationship.
Thanks to everyone who has wished us well, things are still a little surreal but I can honestly say I have never been happier in my life than I have been the last few days.

Awww that's lovely. Congratulations :)
A first date anniversary is a sweet thing to remember. DumHed and I got married on the 19th of September, 2 years to the day after we got together.

Mate if you think things are surreal now wait until the wedding planning gets going in earnest. There will be a coven meeting convened in no time flat and then the politicking begins as to who gets to do what job and most importantly HOW!
That is one thing I am glad I wasn't involved in as a bloke my patience wears a little thin when I am asked to choose between 400 shades of cream to decide on the shade of tule the back parcel shelf of the car taking the mother of the matron of honour to the church should be decorated with.
Good luck and well done

Holy Cripes! Another one bites the dust. Congrats and good thoughts towards you.
Will this be the first ZWedding?
Having done this an unmentionable number of times, I can wholeheartedly offer a few pointers(from personal experience):
1) The answer to most questions posed to you should be: "Yes Dear"
2) The Wedding Day is HER day. Do Not let anyone or anything get in the way of that reality.
3) Get to know your wife (to-be's) Mother. Almost without fail that is what she will look and act like most likely in 20 years.
4) If you have priorities, hit the reset button and prepare to get new ones. Your reality is now that of Hers + Yours with the emphasis on Hers.
5) Don't EVER go to bed mad. Things may be quieter in the morning, but they won't be better.
6) Hold hands when you go to sleep, always.
7) If you find yourself raising your voice OR your hand, you have screwed up. Stop and start over.
:::Soap Box mode off::: I'm gonna' stop here to prevent de-repping due to sappiness.

A big thankyou to everyone who sent in congratulations, including those who did so via a rep comment instead of a post. I have fwd this url to the bride to be to take a look and she wanted me to thank all of you as well.
Also thanks to those above who have provided have provided a tip or two and some food for thought for the roller coaster ride we have embarked on.

Make sure the wedding, however you choose to do it, is what you guys want and not arranged in the interests of other people. You'll have a lot more fun that way. After all, it's YOUR big day.

To recap an earlier post no date is set but we have set a 1 year timelimit to tie the knot. We have already started planning the engagement party and I already have a list of venues to research today.

Yeah alot of people have said this and this is very important to us, however I dont think this will be much of a problem as my mum is pushing the "it's your wedding" line very hard so I think it will be a little difficult for anyone to try to take over.

Thanks for the offer but my fiancé is a graphic designer specialising in print based design, this stuff is her territory and I don't think there is any way in hell she will let someone else do it
Thanks for the congrats

Hey no worries. No harm in trying but it looks like you have that one more than covered!
Now you get to do all the hard stuff (but really fun) stuff like deciding where to get married.
I took the easy way - I went to Las Vegas and had a party when I got back to Perth. Bloody fantastic.

hehe yeah of all people my mum suggests this as the course of action, her only stipulation is that she has to be there for the ceremony itself, wherever that may be.
