God I hate the media sometimes. I am getting fucking sick and tired of the media portraying these heroin smuggling fuckheads as victims. Yesterday the news tried to make them seem wronged in some way because of "poor conditions in gaol". I say "TOO FUCKING BAD". Gaol is NOT meant to be a fucking holiday camp with bikini models are sun tans!

They complain of some kind of sickness.... all of them... at once? Bullshit! The news programs complained that only one of them recieved a proper diagnosis from the gaol doctor. If one of them was cleared, and they all had the same syptoms... newsflash... they are not sick.

They claim they had no knowledge that drug smuggling in Indonesia is an offense punishable by death? WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN MORONS? I suppose you just crawled out from under your rock one morning, didn't check the paper and see whats-her-face wondering whether she will face the death penalty or not for accused dope smuggling, and I suppose you just decided on a whim to try and smuggle heroin into Bali.

All of the above point have been covered by the commercial stations news programs. All focusing on how hard it is for them. I have yet to see an unbiased news program cover this story.

Thats my rant for now.

Although I do agree with you for the most part, Goal is not meant to be a holiday and fuck off they didn't know it was punishable by death...etc...but......

The drug trade in Indonesian countries is rampant and you have to watch yourself all the time... people come up to you on the street offering you drugs and even if you say no there has been numerous cases of drugs being dropped into peoples luggage/handbags etc.

I have no doubt that there are people out there that are threating the lives of these kids and thier families (whether or not it happened to these particular kids remains to be seen), but it could have been the case.

Also, they are just kids. Stupid kids granted, but kids just the same.
They deserve to be punished, they have done the wrong thing, but I really don't think that their whole lives should be thrown away for a stupid mistake.

I do also agree that there is yet to be an unbiased coverage of the story and that there is a fuckload more information that we don't know.

Totally agree Thyrd. What irked me was how the media came out and portrayed it like it was some sort of conspiracy against the innocent because they threatened their families if they didn't courier the drugs. I'm pretty certain this dude didn't just walk up to them into the airport and say "strap these drugs on or your family is dead". More likely they entertained the idea to start with (and had bills paid etc) and chickened out at the last minute, which led to the threat. Of course, this is totally just my unsubstantiated opinion... which is ok, cos I am not a journalist.

The dickheads deserve what they get - and that's more than likely going to be the death penalty.

One of the 9 has served me many beers at the local pub over the years, he seemed rough around the edges but I didn't know that was the kind of thing he was up to. Only lives in the next suburb from where I do.

No-one held a gun to their heads and made them go overseas and then try to come back, they knew what they were doing and if threats were made it was once they tried to back out of it when over there, if the stories are correct.
They wanted quick money and were not on a tourist holiday to take snapshots and sunbake on the beach.
You intentionally break overseas law, you deserve everything you get and more.

yeah, i read a report where they got a free holiday and then found out they were to transport drugs otherwise their families would be killed. Yeah right, like someone gives you a free holiday to bali, no strings attached. They knew what they were doing and now they've been caught they pay the penalty of the balinese law.
