So I'll be going back to school to obtain a CFOR cert. Getting tired of IT and PC repair. yeah it's paying the bills, easy to have a flexable schedule, but I just feel stuck..... not rewarding, or I'm not living up to full potential. Who knows?
Computer Forensics always did strike my likes.
What I'd really like to strive for is sexual based cyber crime. Ya know, catching kiddie-fiddlers and other things like that.
It's really odd though; Seems that courses tend to educate more on Network intrusion detection, system lockdowns, Rootkit detection, and Legalites. Though when I'm reading Term papers of upcomming students and the Court findings they source, It's like half the crimes cited were Sexual (others were indentiy theft). Legal factors I read seem to show that the Internet is newly touched in terms of the law.
Who knows.. Thought it would really be fun; Writing up Seizure protocols of PC's, Copying drive images to maintian untainted evidance, putting pedophiles away. I also gotta think though..... Could I handle some of the evidence I'll have to see? I'll probably see some pictures that would haunt my mind.
Anyway.... there's my thoughts. now here's what I ask.
Know anyone in computer forensics? Is it rewarding to them? How's the pay?
Anyone take any type of classes? What's the POV? worth it? Gotta go through tons of BS to get there?
Also other correlated courses could be beneficial with CFOR Cert? hear that EnCase certifications is a highly desired item. (EnCase is a packet sniffing/interception manager many Forensics Agents Stand by. Difficult to contest in courtrooms)
Thank-ya much:)
