I've narrowed it down to:

Curve - Cuckoo
New Order - Elegia
This Mortal Coil - Carolyn's Song

So...if you kicked it tomorrow, what song would you want people to forever associate with you?

sagit
29-08-2002, 12:17 AM
lets see now...

"sit on my face" - monty python
some trancey stuff might be good. shame i won't hear it.
the 1996 theme to "The Bill"

run out of ideas now..and the panel will be starting soon.

"Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn"

Primus - Fish On
The start to the title theme for the Shawshank redemption (to make everyone feel sad and guilty hehe)

I was going to pick We're in this together, but I figure that would only scare the hell out of my parents.

Counterstrike.

Oh, sorry, a song. Errr...The Frail/The Wretched by NIN
Or Angel of Death by Slayer, no scrub that. Reign in Blood the whole album (it only lasts 1/2 hour) by Slayer.
But I would probably settle for something mellow to please me ma n pa. Open Up by Leftfield.

The "mellow" song: Olive - You're Not Alone
The "really sad, make everyone ball their eyes out" song: Joy Division - Atmosphere
The "uplifting" song: New Order - Regret

I think I'd want ppl to be happy at my funeral, so I figured it best i whack that last one in there :)

They can play any old crap, I won't be there to see it; and even if I was somehow etherally present, what difference does it make?

You can toss my rotting corpse at the dump for all I care.

I agree with pleed - stuff the funeral, have a massive wake.

Im pretty impressed at the amount of nin responses and apologise by being predictable with another...

I have said for quite some time that I would like "piggy" played at mine. I know there is near no chance that it will be played, but id like to turn some heads from beyond the grave.

So... If any of you have the displeasure of turning up at at mine.. be ready.

Nice Choice!

hmm, whta would I like ? well, I said it in the last thread, but I think now that I've realyl thought about it, I'd have to say -

NiN - Hurt
The Choral Arangement of Barbers Adagio for strings
Pavanne from the Capriol Suite
And
Foo Fighters - Feburary stars

A nice list if I do say so myself.

Either that, or just some tom waits.

I would pick only one song, "Imagine" by John Lennon...

Yeah, I know it's old, but besides being a great song - I always felt that the lyrics reflected my own personal philosophy on life and the way I've always tried to live it.

For those of you who don't know the lyrics:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us,
above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for the day...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world can be as one

Imagine no possesions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one ...

Well, considering there'd really be no one at my funeral to care what music I picked, I suppose, if I was somehow at my own funeral, I'd like to hear:

1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V) - Pink Floyd

2. Eclipse - Pink Floyd

3. Any Colour You Like (it's an instrumental) - Pink Floyd.

And whatever hard pumping rock they find in my CD collection for the wake (heh, like that'd happen).

Speaking of death and music. Does anyone know the name of the Dead Can Dance song that goes like this:

I am stretched on your grave and will lie there forever
With your hands held in mine i'm sure we'll not sever
My apple tree, my brightness, tis time we were together
For i smell of the earth and lay slain by the weather
When my family thinks that i'm safe in my bed
From night until morning I am stretched at your head
Calling out to the air with tears both hot and wild
Oh I grieve for the girl I loved as a child
The priests and the friars behold me in dread
because i still love you my love and you're dead
and would still be your shelter from rain and from storm
but with you in the cold grave i cannot sleep warm

I know the words but not the name

I was thinking either Dr. Hook's - I was stoned and I missed it or something like that... I'm the kind of person that doesn't want people to cry when I die... I want them to throw a big party in rememberance of me and just remember all the good times.
