I seriously do not get this comic. I occasionally buy a daily newpaper to read during lunch at work. Eventually I get to the comics section and all of them can make me grin a little....except this one.

The fred basset comics never have any punchline!!!What is so funny about a dog making normal observations? Do I always miss a panel where he mauls someone? It's seriously not funny.

I think the punchline is that the dog is being a metaphor of the man.... dog = man ;p

You know how woman consider men dogs cuzz of what they do and stuff,.....i guess a comic for women.

I used to really enjoy reading FB in the Chicago Trib. Of course since it wasn't "hip" or trendy enough they dropped it. Can't have comics that you have to think about, now can you?

I think that Fred is pointing out that the guy is more interested in the Ladie's Finals (or their skirts) than in his Wife's attempts at distracting him with tea and cake. Maybe if she were wearing a cute neglige she would have a better chance. Of course then it wouldn't be a "family comic".
