View Full Version : ZMeet Timetable

Ok so going by the polls, the most popular items have been added here to a suggestion of timetables. To help people catch up OR stay out of each others way, if they so chose, you have a choice of things to do! Around all these events, people are of course able to have their own shindigs. But hey, if its an exclusive list keep it private and off the zmeet forums.
Also im sure some of our visiting victims will be staying longer than 2.5 days, so I reckon there'll be other things being organised as we get closer to the event weekend.
This is timetable is just a suggestion for the weekend. All of this can be changed and that's what this thread is for. We'll keep this thread open until the 7th of August. After that we'll start organising the event.
Friday night :: Dinner and drinks, quest for zpub/kareoke shennanigans
Saturday day :: Picnic/bbq, zdrive for the more adventurous, possibly putt putt and bowling in the afternoon?
Saturday night :: Hit the zpub again, maybe an alternative house party for those more inclined to stay in?
Sunday day :: Late late brunch to regroup, ferry to manly for bowls aka cheap beer and purving?

hehe you can do that if you want, thats the point of an open timetable i guess. If 10 people want to go bowling, and another 10 want to just hang out at a pub, then just do it :D
I don't like being boxed into something planned a month or 2 in advance, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, if people want to go their different ways or at least know there'll be a variety of things to do each day/night, they can, yay!
Who knows, friday night might end up being so good no one goes home until sunday, hmm stinky drunk geeks :D
::edit:: oh yeah i suggest ZANZIBAR (http://www.zanzibarnewtown.com.au/index.html) for friday night meet up/drinks/dinner, they do tapas dishes and finger foods upstairs, along with a cocktail lounge ($8 cocktails on friday and saturday nights i think) and have a pub downstairs, its a block up king st from newtown station too

I heartily endorse Zanzibar. In fact i heartily endorse spending the whole weekend in Newtown as it means i only have to walk home. Maybe bowls at Camperdown bowls club on the saturday arvo followed by a pub crawl back into Newtown?

Friday night :: Dinner and drinks, quest for zpub/kareoke shennanigans
- I'm assuming someone's gonna map this out and reserve something way before the actual night ?... I don't really have a clue on numbers, but I'm thinking if we all just turn up noone's getting anything the eat or drinks for a fair fuckin while :P Just a rough guess, but I think there will be quite a number of us there....
Saturday day :: Picnic/bbq, zdrive for the more adventurous, possibly putt putt and bowling in the afternoon?
- Sounds good, we talkin' 10 pin bowling yes ?.... Again.... unless the bowling alley is deserted could be a problem with numbers if everyone participates.
Saturday night :: Hit the zpub again, maybe an alternative house party for those more inclined to stay in?
- I agree.
Sunday day :: Late late brunch to regroup, ferry to manly for bowls aka cheap beer and purving?
- This one sounds like lawn bowls... lawn bowls and perving ?.... In the one activity ? .... Well... considering I dunno Manly I guess anything's possible :) I'll go with it anyway :P

I recently went to the ten pin bowling alley at Mascot, they've got booze and jukebox, you can book a lane for a couple of hours. I'm not sure about transport there though, but cabs from Newtown would be less than $10 and from the city less than $20. Buses would be running there but i don't know which ones

i was thinking about mascot for bowling, their disco bowl is super dooper cool , but i haven't attended bowling with the geeks before and I think there is another place they usually go? Not sure, but mascots up for suggestion!
I know there's barefoot lawn bowls at lots of clubs now(whoever was thinking that its purving on old ppl, its not!), we only suggested manly because it's where we went last time and there was some extreme hotness in manly on a sunday afternoon, a good enough excuse to go back ... phwoooarrr the cheerleading team :D

if getting tapas from zanzibar, may i suggetst getting numbers confirmed if possible a few days in advance. then contact the kitchen about getting maybe a discount for group booking.
if i remember correctly they have individual plates from $8 - $12, or platters for 2 for $38.
may even be able to reserve an area for us all. cause if we just turn up on a friday night, there is no garauntee there will be enough space to sit and feed 15-20 ppl ( rough guesstimate )

ok so through a friends suggestion I offer up an alternative to Zanzibar thats cool because we don't have to book, any number of people can turn up, its got food and cheap drinks, its exactly one block opposite newtown station, meaning anyone who wants to head into the city to continue drinking or to sing up a storm in karaoke afterwards can do so easy peasey.
So our suggestion is to meet up at the Courthouse pub (202 australia street, newtown for whereis) friday arvo/night, and all you ragers can take it from there.
I've got maps to put up, and other stuff. i've also started ringing places to put in tentative bookings (lawns bowls etc), tonight I swear im going to pin pirate down before WoW and get him to start proper attendance stuff, he had some plans :p
If anyone has suggestions for other places to eat on saturday, or locations for things like 10 pin bowling (because i know nothing about it) please post them here :)

Fuck oath it is. High in protein, good level of carbs and omega-3/unsaturated oils, sushi is a wonderful antidote for a hangover. Wasabi helps clear your head too if you can handle it on such an occasion.

yay :D
we should meet mid afternoon for sushi or food of some type and then commence the drinking.
Cassa is leike cool and knows places to go and things to do when us grandparents retire for the evening, I nominate her as the designated officer of fun.
So for saturday day, do we want to go ten pin bowling or putt putt or both? I'll be organising putt putt i'd say, so if other people want to bowl instead maybe someone can take that up? I'd love to go picniccing, but it might be a rush to get to a picnic then other events. Let me know..
Saturday night we'll need another meeting point if people want a change from the courthouse, i'll probably be pretty pooped so I don't know if i'll make it out.
Sunday bowls at manly from around lunch time onwards, more drinking to be had im sure.
Oh and I just reminded Pirate to get the friday and monday off, and he has, w00t!
We're trying to keep things casual so people can turn up to things at their leisure as much as possible to avoid dissapointment, being left behind, or people getting annoyed at late comers. If we all get together on the friday and things change, any updates will be posted here as frequently as possible. I'm trying to cover everything but if i'm doing a lame job tell me and i'll let you do it for me, kthx :D

Haha poo on that Buffy :p I'm only staying out til mid evening on the Friday but I'm happy to get the fun ball rolling.
Meeting point on Saturday would be good, this is traditionally the big pub crawl night of any kind of geek meet. I finish work (located near circular quay) at 6 so I'll just party on down from that point, dinner included. I guess it depends on if people want to do dinner as well or head out a bit later on.

Ok, I am planning a touristy/pub type thing for the Friday (9th) because there are a number of interstate people arriving that day, and I am not working then. Anyone who wants to come along is welcome, we will be gathering somewhere in the city area after midday (am open to suggestions at this point).
Yep, I'll be in on that.

cool ok.
Well, I was chatting to cassa last night, and i think we've come up with a solid plan for saturday events.
Pirate has organised special treats for zgeekers and we really needed somewhere we can get them out to everyone, so the picnic is definately on. Pirates going to post the picnic event tonight, its probably going to be centennial park because you can drive there or catch a bus there from the city in about 5 minutes. We're going to be taking our outdoorsy games, like frisbee's and boules to lark about. lewl lark.
So, if anyone wants to go mini golfing or ten pin bowling that day instead, tell me because I will gladly still organise it for you, we know people like doing that stuff so its not ruled out. :)
::edit:: oh yeah in the night, there'll be more eating drinking and being merry, possibly hosted by Teh Cassa!!1 after she finishes work hehe. Kthx.

I'll probably make my decision on what to do for the Saturday on the Friday night, after getting a vibe of who's doing what.
im working both days, and may have other stuff to do to get theatre ready for comedy show (goddamn, same thing happened last year since show starts on same weekend).
Will come to saturday house party if there is one. Might come to friday dinner.
