Hmmmm, maybe I can help you with that goal...

Sent you an email SOC....
While Jhony is gambling his life savings away, he's asked me to relay you a message.
He sent to me via text messaging on my berry-- said he couldn't post on ZGeek from the playing floor.
Mehhhhhh these Aussies are thicker than thieves.
One left his homeland when he was 5 and is now an Ameriggun, and the other is living in the UK and plans to move to NY.
And they're still obsessed with Aussieism. :eclique: :fag:s

Alright, since I've been reading and not posting for the last week (PC crash, full re-install -- pain in the ass...) I'll sum up my input easily.
First: SOC - You're welcome in Oregon anytime. I'll even sign your permission slip to live here (being one of the few native Oregonians left...). Arcane1 will vouch for me; he's welcome here anytime as well. You'll love it; beautiful country, easy women, and the original home of the microbrew. Not many places in the country where you can go from snow skiing to a walk on the beach in four hours or less. And most of us smokers are courteous to others (well, I am at least). And the Chinook Salmon is to die for. Oh yeah, Tillamook cheese is the best, too!
Second: My user name came about from the wear and tear put on my Fender P-bass; it's my 'gig' bass, and I tried to get 'fenderbender' - due to my penchant for bass neck bends - a decade ago when I got my first user name (Yahoo, nonetheless...) but it was unavailable. Being smart enough to not use user names that are similar to each other (I have enough trouble remembering the few I have now!) I've used fenderbasher for just about everything. Except throwaway accounts.
Not wanting to turn this into a you show me yours I'll show you mine...but if I inform her and she asks what you look like....what the fuck am I supposed to tell her....and age for that matter....
I look like George Clooney, and I'm younger than him.
I'm surprised Haggisboy's top 10 went below the radar.

not SLY or STUBBORN?
Definitions of silly on the Web:
cockamamie: ludicrous, foolish; "gave me a cockamamie reason for not going"; "wore a goofy hat"; "a silly idea"; "some wacky plan for selling more books"
airheaded: lacking seriousness; given to frivolity; "a dizzy blonde"; "light-headed teenagers"; "silly giggles"
pathetic: inspiring scornful pity; "how silly an ardent and unsuccessful wooer can be especially if he is getting on in years"- Dashiell Hammett
a word used for misbehaving children; "don't be a silly"
punch-drunk: dazed from or as if from repeated blows; "knocked silly by the impact"; "slaphappy with exhaustion"

I rather think that "scornful" would make a good phrase, as in "scornful old cunt". But SOC is more of a 'silly' one really.

Everyone here is quite sober. When we get drunk, then we get really silly. Of course it is rather difficult to tell since the typing gets a little screwed up.

Agreed, it was quite entertaining. i'm not a huge fan of the harry potter series like my friends, but this one really had alot of elements that make up a good movie. plenty of action and humor. kind of glad they added a dark/gloomy scenario, i think that is what kinda put me off with the other ones, not dark enough.

I have decided to stake out this little corner of ZGeek to call my own. Here I will babble, blather and generally make comments that should offend many and annoy a few more. Feel free, feel welcome to comment as you'd like.
Today's message is:
I have decided to try and forgive those that voted for Bush in 2004, after all, even they couldn't have realized how completely stupid he is.
I don't view Bush as the problem here, the source of all the bullshit that is going on. I view capitalism and imperialism to be the problems here. Bush is just a tool, another part of the corrupt capitalist system. Everyone said "Vote John Kerry, get Bush out!" Under John Kerry, the underlying problems would have still remained. The United States is not a democracy or democratic republic, it is a plutocracy - a government of, by, and for the rich. Nearly all of the politicians are bought out by their big-time supporters... Kerry was bought out by Telecommunications, Bush by Big Oil and other corporations. Americans having a say in what goes on is a simple illusion to give people the belief that they have any control at all. Meanwhile, we're being fucked in the ass harder and harder by the ruling elite. Everyone says "Bush sucks!" I don't. I say "Capitalism sucks!"

Cool! Fresh Meat! Woo Hoo! Welcome to the corner.
Short on time, but I certainly want to welcome you. I don't agree with your views entirely, but that is really moot. No, wait, not moot, but really a welcome input. Clearly you have views that are not regurgitations of what you've been told to think, and have the ability to argue them. I think that you'll find that in this Corner of ZGeek opposing views discussed rationally are welcome as opposed to most other areas. :eclique:
Since you post exemplifies the "Tip of the Iceberg theory", as in 98% is not visible below the water line, I'm not about to touch that this morning. Not enough carbon based resources available at the moment.

Coming out of my Cave.
Being as "old" as I am... I grew up on old AMerican Television. Shows like Rockford Files, Ba Ba Black Sheep (about Pappy Boyington, WWII Ace), Bob Newhart, Happy Days and old Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns to name a few.
So SOC is telling me about how all the old American TV shows are being transferred to DVD collections. Now I've read about that, and how much of a success it's been. So, we go to a Best Buy store, and I walk into the aisle of TV DVD box sets. I felt like I got whacked in the heaad. Here's all these shows that I grew up on, used to plan my evenings to watch... on DVDs... I freaked.
I also bought The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and the first 2 seasons of Ba Ba Black Sheep. The story based on Major Pappy" Boyington. He was a Blue Ribbon Fuck-Up of incredible proportions. He was also the first American Ace in the Pacific arena, and the leader of one of the most successful flight squadrons ever. We stuck the DVD in, and started watching it. Watching it is like going back in time, I can hear the lines said before they come out... Fucking incredible.
Pappy Boyington (http://www.warbirdforum.com/gregboy.htm)
SOC may be a Cunt, but I have to credit him for pulling me partially out of the cave I have lived in. Now if only I can find all the Speed Racer episodes on DVD.

It's not just old - and new - American shows being released as DVD box sets, dude - same goes for British,Japanese and Australian shows. The day that all episodes of The Aunty Jack Show are finally released on DVD is the day I can die a happy man. Oh, and by the way, Speed Racer is already out on DVD. Oh, and stop calling me cunt, cunt, or The Cunt might takes offense and lock us out of his pr0n forum, and then where would we be?
Old ha. I grew up in the sixties. I saw a lot of the classics the first time around. We did not get colour TV until after I went to college. I think the first time I saw colour TV was at the Varsity in Atlanta. I remember watching Star Trek at the Varsity. It was awesome but compared to the latest stuff a garage band can do better videos.
GBU is one of my favourite movies. You also have to get Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. High Plains Drifter and Two Mules for Sister Sara are also in the series. The Two Mules is a :mdr:
:
There is another movie by Henry Fonda called "They call me nobody" that is pretty good.
A cult classic and sort of a western is "Time Rider". Maybe everyone knows that one.
Again I may be stating the obvious but "www.IMDB.com" has a box up in the right hand corner that lists what is available and in what media.

And I don't know Time Rider either, but a western I love is Eastwood's Pale Rider. Great flick.
Brain fart. Remember I grew up in the sixties. You are correct the name is "My Name is Nobody".
Any western with Eastwood is great. I am not too big a fan of the Dirty Harry series.
Some other goodies are "Midway", "In Harms Way".

The worst show for me when I was a kid was The Johnny Cash Show -- I used to hate country music and all the whiny guests he used to have on seemed like an endless funeral.
Seinfeld was smartly written and enjoyed from the first episode while its currnent version, Curb Your Enthusiasm, tries much too hard to be witty and becomes annoying.
One the movies front, my all-time fave remains The Shawshank Redemption -- watched well over 20 times and I still find it inspiring. It's a must-have movie for our intrepid traveller SOC although I suspect it is readily available where he lives.

If I wasn't sitting here watching this fucking DVD and laughing my arse off I might be able to... Some Bastard brought over a couple seasons of Little Britain. Classic British comedy, men dressing up as women and doing stupidly funny things like wearing dresses and pissing in the Men's room. Definately turns off the bloke at the next stall.
For myself, I'd love to see the complete collection of Sid & Marty Kroft put on disk. (Bugaloos, Sigmund the Sea Monster, H.R. Pufenstuf, The Lost Saucer, etc.)
Most of that stuff is out on DVD already - I saw a few of them today at the Virgin Megastore in downtown Chicago...
What's the story with The Aunty Jack Show -- what is so engrossing about it? Would a non-local audience who has never heard of it, be able to partake in what made it special or is it one of those shows you grew up with and brings back memories?

Calling me English is pretty bad ... one thing I've found while travelling the world is that while a lot of people hate the English (French, Germans, Spanish to name a few), nobody, but nobody, hates Australians. We're just too open and friendly and laid back for that. So yes, I wear my Aussie pride on my sleeve, and the day I lose this accent is the day I want someone to shoot me in the head and put me in my coffin.
I didn't realise you were kidding, but no offense was taken. Trust me, I'm definitely no "American basher" - if I didn't like this place, and its people (for the most part), I wouodn't be here right now.

C'mon, not everyone shares your opinion about the English -- they're cool, like any place else, there is always a quota of jerks.
I don't know enough about Aussies but I do understand that they have a very good reputation and that is to your credit.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming -- what will it be, music this time?
How about Vivo per lei by Boccelli? Or Caruso by Lucio Dalla? That aria in the Shawshank inspires you to delve into Italian music all the more.

I am told that the English from the northern part of the country are more polite and patient.
London is not necessarily the best place to form an opinion but that's where all the tourists end up, so I guess a good impression is harder to come by.

Fucking Cool! Someone else that acknowledges that!
When I had my shop, and Fantasia (the Original) was released on videotape, I had a client that owned a family video store. I ordered the "Boxed Edition" with the print, the CD's and book and all, and 20 (or more) copies of the video. I gave them to everyone that appreciated that I knew had kids with the caveat "I'm gonna' ask (child) if you actually watched it with them!" I had most all of them come back amazed about never having seen it or having forgotton how wonderful it was. Ironicly, as a release originally it flopped hard and nearly bankrupted Disney, which tells us a lot about society. It is still one of my Son's favorite movies. I framed the print of Mickey as the Sorcer's Apprentice, it hangs in my office.
And one other great Bugs line, done to the "Barber" during a classic Bugs conflict; "Of course you know... This means War".
Good morning Arcane. I bought the Fantasia box set when it came out. It is in my special corner of them study. Bugs is my hero. I use lines from his cartoons all of the time. And Elmer's "hunting wabbits" slays me.

Now, I have a question.. according to that article, the Las Crucen was a Mexican national who was a PFC in the US Army, and "planned to become a US Citizen."
In all my years of military dependency, I've never heard of a non-US citizen/national being in the military. (Puerto Rico ?and I think Guam? are "possessions" or something, so they don't count.) Is this something new they've started up, perhaps to boost the ranks for the war (offering citizenship in exchange for service, perhaps??), or has this always been done and I just never heard about it before?

I have read of a number of "to become citizens" that have died. Typically they are awarded citizenship posthumously, which does them a great bit of good. Don't know what the specific issues are, but I think that if you'lll swear to be loyal, can walk reasonably well and carry a gun the service will take you these days.
I've also read that the competency level of the last 8 months' recruits is the lowest ever. The majority of recruits scored in the lower third of the exams all around.
Seems to be a case of War accelerating Darwinism.

I am a big fan of National Service. I think that everyone should do a minimum of public service. Minimum wage but free room and board, in exchange you get educational vouchers based on length of service. National Service would include public works projects, disaster relief, peace core, park service, health care, etc. Military service would also be an option but not a requirement.
I believe that citizenship should also be awarded based on National Service. For example Texas is up to its long horns in illegal aliens but most are hardworking good people that deserve a chance at improving their lives. Unfortunately they are breaking the law. But on the other hand Texas could not survive without our amigos.

Latest "solution" that I have heard is to build a containment fence along the entire border. And every restaurant and service company will be hurting immediately.

I dont have a problem with the fence. They are a lot of M13 gang members coming across the border and god knows what else. We probably need a guest worker program with part of the taxes going to pay local services and the rest going to Mexico.

The same can be said about both Jordan and Pamela Anderson.
I'll go into detail about it tomorrow - right now I'm introducing some Americans to the cult comedy Little Britain - and they're loving it.
Also The League of Gentleman is very fantastic - I am seeing them on tour for the second time this year.

That wasn't MY opinion of English people - with some exceptions, most of them are OK. BUt they DO have a lot of enemies on the continent.

Got back from Vegas and now :barf: left and right. Ohh well so hungover I could die and no calling in sick because the fuckers knew I was in Vegas. Lost all my money but came in 29th out of 150 in the poker tourney. Some aussie was there also and kicking ass. Also met all the high rollers of poker *not all of them but around 10 of them*
Had a great time and now need to :barf: in my trash can. ohh well..

Pool table, but only if you like to play Pool....otherwise whats the point?
Everyone who buys pool tables likes pool -- they all say that.
A few years later, they're not being used any more. And since they're so cumbersome to move about, relatively expensive and are a drag to resell (must be dismantled, need transportation, etc) -- just wondering if it's worth going through it, despite the downside.
Basically, you just don't know how much you really like pool until you own one it seems cause people keep on buying them for the short term. Or for decoration.

I figure pool and snooker is a pub game - don't be dragging that stuff into your house.
A pool table for decoration means you have NO FUCKING TASTE :D

Damn straight.
The decoration part is a by-product of one no longer playing -- certainly wasn't recommending buying one for esthetic purposes although there a lot of models that are real cool to look at.
Jhony Roberts, for instance, advocates using pool table tops for sex. The cool thing to do might be to call a cum shot, as you would a ball during a game.
So just as you are being brought to the point of eruption, you make your call ...
"I'm going to shoot off the tip of your left shoulder, into the left corner pocket."
A cum shot like that would be legendary. :drink:

In the reply screen that has the formatting options (fonts, font treatments, smilies, etc), you type your message. Use the cursor to highlight the words that you want to hyperlink, then click on the little globe with two links on the bottom of it - it also looks like the infinity symbol, black-and-white balls, or a paperclip. Click on that, and a user prompt window will pop up. You type or paste in the link into that window, click "ok" and now your word (or even just a lett (http://www.zgeek.com)er) is hyperlinked.
You have to make sure that you get the http: //www.blahblah in there, though - if you just give it a www.blahblah, or if you paste it in and get http: //http://www.blahblah, it won't work.

Okay, two things - and Arcane's made a comment that makes me think I'm the butt of a joke here, but whatever... hope y'all aren't laughing at me...
1., it's not the paperclip proper, that's for attachments. It's the blue globe that has a doohicky at the bottom of it that kind of looks like a paperclip (but it's actually two links). On my editing screen, it's right underneath the little white-faced smiley, in between the alignment buttons and a set of links with a red X through it.
2., you have to type the words in that you want to link, first.
So, let's say you want to say, "Happy Birthday Johny" and hyperlink it to the image you've listed above. First you're going to type,
Happy Birthday, Johny
Then you're going to select/highlight those words
Then you click on the globey-linky thing, and the user prompt should come up (if you have a popup stopper enabled, you might have to disable it - not usually, but maybe)
Then you type or paste the link into that box, and click okay
And you should get
Happy Birthday, Johny! (http://www.muyzorras.com/noti/soplando_velas.shtml)
Alternately, if you feel like typing it, you can just type out the [ URL="link" ]blah blah [ /URL ] manually.
Anyway, feeling kind of dumb here and not sure why, so I'm shutting up now, except: Happy Birthday, Johny!

Things that sneak up on you:
Realizing that you still have that damn teal colored infinity shaped tattoo on your ass? It is easy to forget about since you don't look there all that often. I remember her name well, and why she ended up here, but damn...that was a long strange trip indeed.
That in the picture that was taken last Summer of you and your Son shows him to be damn near as big as you are.
You are listening to your kids playing video games with some strange Aussie in the family room. Of course they are kicking his ass.
That your current age, minus 16, equals a long, long time ago in reality years.
That your hair hasn't been down past your shoulders in over 15 years.
The mortgage is due on the First of the Month, every month.
That if 1000 people guess how much a cow weighs based on nothing more than visual inspection, no single person will get it within 5%. However, if you take the mean guess value, it will consistently be within 1% or better.
That Johny_Roberts and Seeker really are gay lovers, and all the other talk and chat about sexing it up with hot tub girls is a cover.
That sometimes your intellect and your heart take completely different directions, typically contrary to eachother and denying all logic.
That reality is a subjective matter, and a subject that really matters to me in that I try to avoid it.
That really, none of this is supposed to make sense.
