i just don't understand this rep system. i told seeker awhile back that i had a neg rep from noddy, but when i checked it the next day, the rep from noddy was gone.

Dijon is the shit. Never had black pepper mustard but it sounds good. One mustard I used to buy was Sierra Nevada they had all sorts of flavors. Good mustard is undervalued. When I was a kid and lived with my aunt this was her version of a sandwich...

I just got back from seeing the latest Harry Potter film - my HUGE expectations were completely fulfilled. Micheal Gambons accent kept slipping into Irish though, which was a bit silly.
I know he's only 17, but Daniel whatshisface is gorgeous.
Saw a trailer for Happy Feet Penguins are cool (http://www2.warnerbros.com/happyfeet/), how mean is that - showing a trailer for what looks like a really funny film that's not going to be released until this time NEXT YEAR. :spingo:

I'm sorry oggy... that is harsh. The way that they age seems to be much faster in the later years, same as with people and other creatures. All that really matters is that she is happy and enjoying life.
Schon slept by the back door last night, and got chilled. Today the chill along with the ham that he ate too much of day before yesterday really took a toll on him. Tonite he is better, but the frailty is obvious, and our vet is praying that he makes it through Christmas. How long he makes it is not really as important to me as how well he makes it, I cannot imagine letting him suffer for the least amount of time. He has been too good a friend and companion for so long, that I would do anything for him to make him happy.
Not many people I call "friend", but he is certainly one. I'm not sure why you don't think that you will see her alive again, whether it is a matter of distance or time, but don't give up on it. Regardless, just as she recognized you by sight and more so smell, she willl always remember you as her friend and caretaker. Whilel I don't know how specifically, I am certain that in some way that memory doesn't stop with the beating of the being's heart and bodily functions, that is something that is carried along, into whatever next existence we have. If any being should be able to carry that love, it has to be the pets that give us their all.
cheers for all that.....she has had a good last 7 years on acerage, and the person who has had her said she will ring me when she dies......tho that could be sooner than i think......all good tho......many years as a great friend and companion.....more than i could say for a few of the fucksticks on this site!

I watched "The Beach" first. I jumped so fast I think I pulled a muscle. After that they were "ok when is it going to happen". Then I started watching the progress bar. How soon we become jaded.

I watched Flight of the Phoenix last night (the recent version) -- not a great movie, the acting was kind of plastic and never I have a seen a group of people in such a well-preserved state despite living in the drastic conditions of a desert, but I digress.
At one point, one of the survivors of the crash landing, leaves the group, and tries to make it on his own. There was nothing but miles upon miles of desert all around. The pilot heads after him, finds him and asks him to come back.
The escapee retorts that there is no reason to return if they're not going to try to find a way out -- like, rebuilding the plane. The pilot is recalcitrant and wants to just keep their diminishing resources as long as possible in the hope that someone might locate them, rather than expend themselves in a pursuit that has little chance of success. The one good line from the movie came from the escapee:
"A man needs but one thing in life and that's someone to love. If you can't give him that, then give him something to hope for. And if you can't give him that, then give him something to do."
And with that, they set off to repair the plane and save their lives.
Kind of reminds of the hope you need when your beloved companion's life is withering and you feel powerless to do anything about it. Sometimes, posting what you are going through, is about all you can do.

How stupid do I look? Not only do I have a multi-zone DVD player, I have one that plays Divx file to boot. So there.

As for the Divx player, last week I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life when I let a big electronic store's sale of a $29 DVD player with Divx slip through my fingers.
I got the flyer in my paper with the advert, but noticed it said there were only something like 50 per store. Normally when that happens by the time I get there after work the stuff's long gone. Plus, the unit was some mark that I'd never heard of. A buddy of mine at work was all hot and bothered by the ad, and unlike me, he actually stopped by on his way home. He told me they still had about 15 left when he got there.
He picked one up and when he got home, popped in a DVD I'd burnt for him containing a bunch of stuff encoded with both Divx and Xvid. The unit had absolutely no trouble reading the data.
Needless to say I was pissed. At $29 the damn things are now disposable.

I know a lady North of here that took a bunch of pics of her two kids, ages 2 and 4, while they were playing in the back yard in the sprinkler one hotter than Hell day last Summer. They were running around bare ass naked playing in the sprinklers. When her husband went to pick up the pictures at WalMart he was made to wait because they "couldn't find them". While waiting the cops showed up and arrested him, cuffs and all and took the kids into custody separately. He and his wife were charged, the kids were put into foster care, and it took months to get it resolved.

Due to continuing delays in the Shuttle Program and the funding needs of the exploration initiative, the NASA budget for FY06 is different than previous years for Shuttle and Station. This has caused a reduction of funds available for JSC Engineering Directorate projects and for operation and maintenance of their facilities.
As a result, ESCG Senior Management is faced with significant changes in our tasking from our customer. Although we do not understand the full extent of the impact that it will have on this contract, we do anticipate that we will have to reduce the size of our workforce to meet the new funding levels. Our management team has been working diligently with the customer to determine the extent of the funding cuts. It is our intention that we have a plan in place to address this issue in the next few weeks.
We understand that this uncertainty will cause anxiety for our employees and we have a responsibility to each of you to explore all viable options to mitigate the negative effects on our workforce and to this contract. It is our commitment to communicate openly and honestly with all ESCG employees as we gain more information. You can anticipate receiving more communication from myself, your immediate manager, and teammate company over the coming weeks. We do not have any specific information to relay at this time. Reminds me that I have to install a software update on a client's system, a Dr's office/practice management, to fix the patch that they sent me last week to fix the patch they sent me earlier to fix the entire upgrade that I installed the week before that, that they said would fix the previous update of the month before.

It isn't a serious issue in the software, they just can't run any of the financial or inventory reports... not anything that should be a problem now... I spent 4 hours last week dealing with the idiots, to fix absolutely NOTHING. What is best is that everytime I talk to them they tell me that they haven't had any other users with the same problem.

9:43 PM, Chicago time.
Well Folks, the puppy Verina is officially missing her playmate. SOC has departed the Chicago area aboard a BA flight for London. I have to say that he is indeed a good guest, has excellent taste in wine, appreciates good food, and tolerates Old Grumpy Dogs, (Schon only bit him once in the foot), hyper-spaz puppy, 16 year old kids and Grumpy ranting me, pretty damn well. He managed not to piss my wife off even once, which is an amazing feat in and of itself. And in all his wanderings around Chicago we only lost him once briefly. He got to freeze his ass off in the Chicago (almost) cold, and even got to play in the snow.
All in all, I'd have to say that I would rate him a pretty damn good house guest and company. Better than my wife's sister, whom had to be removed physically one night by her hair after assaulting my son. But that is another story for another time.
All of this is rather funny, since when I first invited him, and told my wife that I was considering inviting him, she said "What? Some guy that you know on the internet? On some Geek board? Coming here? To stay? Are you NUTS?" To which both kids said, "Well Duh!, we're talking about Dad here..."
