I am currently looking for a new pre paid mobile phone plan, as i had my old phone stolen so am going to use my other phone, anyone recommend a plan that is not to expensive but gives good credit (e.g. free SMS or no flag fall or anything :p) (i also don’t have a credit card)

Since you already have a phone 3 is out. Have a look at the "value" Vodafone plans...

Yeah Vodafone as been good for me. I'm not on one of those "caps" because i got my plan a while ago, but when i was looking i found vodafone to be cheapest. I pay $60 p/m with $60 of credit, cheap calls, especially to other Vodafone. I've only been over my limit once in 18 months, and that's using my mobile as my main phone

you can get $49 prepaid with vodafone these days, and it has $230 of included text/calls. its good - i am on the $79 post paid and am considering going to this $49 one because i only use this much per mth. only problem is you do pay $49 per mth as opposed to a standard prepaid where you get about 3-6 mths to use any unused credit. but for $49, and you get $230, who can complain.

also with prepaid you dont need a credit card. it is just as you can afford it.

I use Optus Prepaid, you get 300 minutes per month of free calls to other Optus mobiles.

I'm switching from Virgin to Optus because Virgin are increasing their SMS from 20c to 25c.

Plus I'm sick to death of having "virgin" on my mobile's screen, especially since my wallpaper is my girlfriends photo, and it is writen across her forehead :spingo:

Another Vodafone vote here. It's the only one I've ever used but the prepaid has always worked pretty well for me, I've used it all I've wanted and never paid more than $100 a month (under rather heavy usage).

I just got on a plan with B. They are very easy to get plans with. Especially if you have no credit card. I got shot down for optus for that reason. They do however use the optus network. On my phone, it comes up with the banners for optus and for B. Their coverage is good, I have had less dropouts than my sister on telstra. Coverage doesn't seem to be much of an issue in the city though anymore....

I ended up going for the $30 a month plan with optus that comes with $120 worth of credit and 4 free sms's a day.
