Where :: Centennial Park
(we'll have a detailed map of exactly where tommorow, plus transport details, after we go and check it out)

When :: Saturday 10th September

Time :: 12 noon onwards

It's BYO food and drink, probably best to pack a hat and sunscreen too. We'll be bringing frisbee's and boules, so bring outdoor fun stuff aswell!

Note :: For those who shun the sun and want to play ten pin bowling or mini golf as was originally planned, I will gladly organise this for you, these activities are going to be bad weather backups if the picnic gets rained out. Just let me know!

well there is free bbq facilities, but its a first in best bbq'd kind of deal. We're just going to bring deli stuff, some cold meats, bread rolls, salads that kind of deal :D
we nearly got to the park yesterday to find a good spot, but we bought a car instead :aah: so i will investimagate tommorow and post a map and details when i get back :cool:

The visitor information section is probably what you want with details on food outlets, toilets, BBQs, rules/regulations e.t.c :)

Unfortunetly you guys are going to miss the "My Little Ponies" pony tour of the park for kids by 1 day says the webpage. Awwwwww ;)

Well there's a small pine foresty type thing in the park which is really nice to walk through. Well i think it is ;) Not too good for picnics though. You might get hit by a falling pine cone.

There's a smaller pond next to the HUGE one in the centre of the park that's got a couple of benches and it's a pretty leafy, quiet spot. :) I'd suggest there if it's sunny and you want some shade.

Also food wise, whenever I go there I head on down to this spot b/c there's a little caravan type thing setup that sells hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, drinks and ice-cream (Gelato!). YUM! :D If you just head down the road that goes to the middle of the park and the big lake where the swans are, you'll see it.

They sell duck bread too :D YAY Duckies!

Though outdoors things are not really my cup of coffee...My main problem this weekend is that I can't make anything Saturday night and I can't make it on Friday night either!! It's all very bad.

For the Zpicnic o' Doom (weather permitting!) here are some maps to help you find us on the day!
This first one shows the entrance we'll be using, The Paddington Gates. In the top right hand corner of the map you can see where oxford st and moore park rd intersect, the gates are at those sets of lights and then you follow parkes dr in the park towards the duck pond.

THIS MAP (http://www.cp.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/2541/MAP_Aug_05.pdf) is of the whole park, you can see paddington gates at the centre top and parkes dr on the map as it runs all the way to the duck pond which is where we'll be congragating - as close to the walkway to grab geeks as possible!

Buses that head towards this area will be marked oxford st or bondi junction via oxford st from central but if you want to find an exact route check out SYDNEY BUSES (http://www.sydneybuses.info/) because I don't catch many buses and therefore cannot be trusted! Muahahah! :D

I'm keeping an eye on the weather forecasts, but its looking gloomy, if it is a rainy day, i suggest heading to bowling if thats your thing or do what I'll be doing, finding somewhere warm and dry to eat and drink and be merry :D

If you're going by public transport, one of the bus routes that goes from Central to Randwick is probably best (374 and 372 spring to mind - I think there's one other...). Get off at the stop on Alison Road near Darley Road - it's not too far to walk from there.

Just got back from the picnic where I saw geeks frolicking on the grass LOL It took me awhile to find where everyone was but after getting directions from the leader himself, I was on the right track :)

The picnic was tops (once I found it) and it was great to meet everyone (well, you know, not tha I met EVERYONE...but...Um). Big up to everyone who was there and big, big up for Pirate and ZBeer. It was damn good.

BUT, had to walk most of the way back from the picnic because my rollerblade boot snapped in half on the way out of the park!!! Photos pending...
