View Full Version : Zmeet :: Saturday night

I know that people are going bowling/picnic-ing on Saturday, but thought that it might be a good idea to organise Saturday night for those of us who won't be at the day events but want to know where and what time to meet :)

Edit: As Chocoholic suggested, we will start at the White Horse in Surry Hills. 381-385 Crown St, Surry Hills.

Meet at 8pm, or if you're going to be late, PM Still Life or I for a contact number so you can find out where we'll be.

I'll know whether I can go on wednesday.

I'll ask a friend of mine that works there if she'll be on that night, She might be able to, I dunno, something. According to her it's become quite strict over the last few weeks with regards to RSA, and I think they may have even bought in a dress code, it may be very loose however. I'll get hold of her and post my findings.

the fuck is everything being organised in newtown? people actually want to go to that shithole?

Chocoholic
06-09-2005, 01:37 PM
I am not to keen on newtown either, especially as most of you will be doing two nights in a row there.…. Why not Balmain? It has a heaps better drinking atmosphere. And for me it’s just as much of a bitch to get to…

kré

i hate trains, and having to take two to meet with a bunch of social reject geeks and wow fags isn't the most inviting idea. especially two nights in a row.

i was considering going until i read the word newtown :P

Suggestions for alternative venue? If enough people can agree on one I'll change it.

Hehe, I don't think the zunit futon actually exists anymore.. thingy bought a new couch :)

Seriously though, if people want to change where we go then that's fine.. there were a few ideas thrown around on irc last night and everyone pretty much agreed on Newtown because of ease of transport/proximity to other pubs/cheapness, so that's what I put down.

sonofa.... he... no futon... but... wha... no!~

damn you sydney people, when was the last time you came up to the coast?

central coast leagues club is like 1 minute away from Gosford station, its a big venue, drinks are reasonably priced (ie, its not sydney)

and its closer for meeee! :P

ME!!

BE CONSIDERATE! lol

Well given Surry Hills is located right next door to central station, I think that is one of the easiest locations to get to for everyone?

I am going to suggest anything in Surry Hills that has room inside given that it might rain on the weekend. The White Horse (http://www.thewhitehorse.com.au/) is a big pub.

There are heaps of pubs in Surry Hills that would be appropriate I just don’t know what they are called.

I also think people coming straight from the picnic and bowling would appreciate somewhere that that serves food. Then again people who drink on an empty stomach are so much fun to laugh at when they are falling over drunk at 8pm.

Good idea chocoholic. Newtown is just too much of a pain to get to if you're not handy to the area, as I suspect is applicable to a number of attending geeks. Surrey Hills is right next to Central which makes it easy for the out of towners.

Will there be any people gathering for dinner beforehand? I have a couple of hours to kill between 6 and 8 in the city.

GODDAMMIT!!!!!

I live bloody near next door to the White Horse and I can't make it to the ZEvent. Again.

If you had have organised it to be in like Ryde or something, I wouldn't have been so upset - but this is my back yard!@!!!~!@#

Oh. I was only making a suggestion. I thought others would do the same. If you are going to make it the White House I suggest some people get there about 6pm as it gets pretty busy and we will need to stake out an area. Maybe that is what Cassa and crew can do between 6-8. Cassa if you are going to be there at 6 let me know and I will meet you there then. I have other stuff I have to do on Saturday so I need a meeting spot about 6 to.

Cassa

Do they do food there?

Yeah there is a bistro if you want to sit down and eat or they have a pub menu.

I'll be there. Is this the starting point of a pub crawl or are we staying put? If anyone is interested there's a really good indie night at the Kings X Hote until late, which I may be going to later in the evening for some drunken air guitar

I might be up for meeting early at the White Horse, I'll confirm on Friday night

Girl.
06-09-2005, 09:45 PM
The White Horse will probably be the start of the pub crawl. I thought we could figure out where we wanted to go on the night.. someone mentioned possibly going to Kings Cross, but I'm not sure of how many people will be keen on it.

I won't be there until at least 8 though.

Actually, we may need you kez, cause I know no good kebab places in the city.

I've been utilising the power of the internet to pick out some places to go tonight - so far I have listed the arthouse (4 bars and the description makes it sound cool), original zpub if it is in fact reopened as the internet seems to suggest, market city tavern (for karaoke) and possible oneworld sports near darling harbour (it's big and inexpensive). ANy other suggestions most welcome.

it's one of those Establishment type places where you need to wear shirts with popped collars etc. Some people might be into that, not my cup of tea though. You'd probably find Hazza there popping away

I don't mind where we go :) Yay for Cassa and her awesome organisational skills :)

Please don't let me drink anything tonight. I downed two bottles of champagne last night and have narrowly avoided spending the day with my head in the toilet.

I'ma be getting there earlier than 8 Cassa =). I can start drinking with you. Hehe.

And girl, hahahahaha. It's okay, you can down another few bottles of champers tonight :D

Girl.

All hail Cassa, for she is fabulous.

Pansy and I were planning on getting there at about 8 but as you know, we are always late, so expect us by 8:30.

Girl.
10-09-2005, 08:26 PM
I just got a call from the zgeekers who are already out drinking tonight. Apparently the White Horse was shitty so everyone has gone to the Cricketer's Arms, near Flinder's street.

Well, as expected I nearly fell asleep in my dinner at about 22:30 last night, so I never managed to hook up with you fine folk.

It was all of the rollolerblading that I did looking for the picnic, I tell you!! I was exhausted and began to do the meeting nod after we'd finished our fourth bottle of wine. No, alcohol had nothing to do with it - it was exhaustion! :D

Anywho - I'll be out at Lawn Bowls today and it looks like lovely weather for hayfever today (it's windy, it's spring, it's OMFG), so I should be a treat this arvo.
