Even before I hurt my back I wanted to start school for Surgical Tech. and what I need to really know is how much physical stuff is involved in it, Im not crippled I just shouldnt be lifting over 35 pounds for the rest of my life.
Is there alot of lifting?

Surgical technologists help with operations. They work under the supervision of surgeons and nurses. They are also called operating room technicians.
Before surgery, technologists help set up the operating room. They wash and sterilize instruments. They place sterile linens and solutions. They set up, adjust, and check non-sterile equipment to be sure it works properly. Technologists also prepare patients for surgery. They transport patients to the operating room. They help position patients on the table and cover them with surgical ôdrapes.ö They also observe patients' vital signs. In addition, technologists help the surgical team scrub and put on gloves, gowns, and masks.

Been here done this
It would depend on the doctors specialty your working for as to what your lifting duties would be. It would also depend on what technical position you'd be filling in the OR. Money is great, hours good, doctors mouths and egos>bad.
An orthopeadic OR consists of one guy to pull push and hold the limb, 2 scrub nurses to pass instruments and 2 goofers. The goofers usually have the best job, they get to run in and out after various things and don't usually get the brunt of the doctors bad behavior.
It's alway frigid in the OR too. Nurses use heated up bags of saline to stay warm while waiting on the "Star" of the show to show up.
Lots of Blood. Hmmm...what else to deture you.....
