not having a go, but why? Don't you think this is quite restrictive and one of the reasons why there aren't a huge amount of entries each month, or are we trying to keep it for people who are into photography?

The whole point of the contest is to go out with the new theme in mind and find a photo to match. It encourages us to take photos.

If we say you can submit any of our old photos then it would lose the point of the contest. I have over 80 gig of photos to chose from. I consider that an unfair advantage. (I'm sure others are the same).

The idea is to get out there and take photos and come back with our best! I personally like the challenge of this.

I think we only get a small number on entries (12 to 15) due to not many people being interested. I dont want to keep it to just "photographers" but I do want to make it challenging not just "what can I find in the archives this month".

your attitude is rather caustic Speaking of caustics. I would like everyone to know exactly what I mean by caustics:
The caustics are referred to as the refraction pattern formed by highly transparent objects such as a glass of fluids which have a certain degree of Total internal reflection, for example the light falling on a glass filled with wine will form some strange patterns of different colours and intensity which are referred to as light caustic.

us northerners dont have spring so no, i say the winner decides the theme of the next months comp, saves all the chatter from non participants.

Good point Dozer. I look outside of my window and it is definitely autumn there. I suggest we replace spring with streaking, unless it is accepted that northeners can take pictures of autumn and you guys down under can take spring photos. Sapia, you can't really put other themes' votes to another theme.

Jumping into icy water happens in the winter among other things such as covering yourself in reindeer blood and hunting bears with a spear while simultaneously rolling in the snow and shouting obscenities to passing people.
