Just wanted to tell you guys about a cool website I was introduced to a few months ago. If you like books, especially ones you don't have to pay for, you'll probably like this.

http://www.bookcrossing.com/

The basic idea is that you register your books on the site, put the ID number inside, and then pass them on to someone else or "release" them into the wild. Whoever picks them up next makes a journal entry on the site, so you can follow the book's travels. There's meetups organised to swap books with other bookcrossers, and "bookrings" organised to circulate books by mail to whoever's interested.

I think the whole idea is very cool, and I've had complete strangers from all over Australia sending me books, so I wanted to spread the joy! If you decide to join (the "Join Now!" link is on the right hand side of the bookcrossing site), don't forget to put me as your referrer! I use the same screen name as here.

awesome idea matey but i have just one problem... i am a compulsive book hoarder and find it impossible to part with a book once i buy it. doesn't matter if the book was utter shite i cannot face the prospect of giving one away.

maybe it's time i upped my medication... OCD anyone?

That's OK, just nick some books from other people and set them free instead!

:D
