That's a common misconception, shirt sales only make up 7% of the total merchandising revenue, and not all of them have Beckham's name on by a long way.

Another misconception is that millions of people in the middle east buy United shirts, the vast majority of that 7% comes from the UK & Ireland, where people are going to continue to buy United shirts, Beckham or not.

At the end of the day, we paid nothing for him (ok, we did in wages, etc), and we're selling him for £25m, next year we'd only get £10m, even if the market stayed the same, and the year after, he'd be able to walk for free.

I'm behind Fergie all the way, just as I was when he got rid of the last 'Big Time Charlie', Paul Ince and the Russian mercenary, Andrei Kanchelskis.

David Beckham has shocked the footballing world by claiming that he would rather retire from football altogether than leave Manchester United.

The England skipper also conceded he is "devastated" that the Old Trafford club wants to sell him and the midfielder is keen to prove his loyalty to the club.

United admitted they have accepted a conditional bid of £30m for Beckham from Barcelona, with fellow Spanish giants Real Madrid also showing an interest in the 28-year-old.

However, Beckham revealed that he does not want to play for any other club but United and insists he would even play for free to prove how much he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

"I'd rather jack it in than leave United," Beckham said. "They're the only team I've ever wanted to play for. I'm absolutely gutted over what's happened."

Speaking to the News of the World, Beckham added: "I'll prove to Alex Ferguson my loyalty for the club by playing for free if I have to.

"United have always been my first club and I've had so many years with some of the world's quality players at Old Trafford.

"I don't want to go anywhere and the club confirming talks with Barcelona has left me speechless.

"If the club don't want me that's something beyond my control but my heart is at Old Trafford and I can't believe the way things have snowballed while I've been away."

Hmmm this is a bit of a U-Turn then!

Beckham thrilled with Real deal

David Beckham has described his move from Man Utd to Real Madrid as a "unique and amazing opportunity".

Beckham will sign a four-year contract with the Spanish club in July after they agreed a £25m fee with the Premiership champions.

"I recognise that this is an amazing opportunity for me at this stage in my career and a unique and exciting experience for my family," he explained.

One percent is probably a lot compared to his wage?

I should imagine he does.

Incidentally I saw them in the newspaper the other day. I always get the impression Posh is like "Oh no, not the press, why can't the do anything for a story bastards leave us alone." Read that in a Neil from the Young Ones voice if you want.

Anyway I noticed the Young un's (Brooklyn's?) shirt and thought:"Is that a footy team?" But upon reading the article I was informed it was part of Posh's clothing line, or what she's got some stake in, that she's promoting.

Needless to say I found it amusing :)

Well, Louise Adams (Victoria's sister) owns her own clothes shop, so it wouldn't suprise me if Victoria has a stake it.

I mean, lets face it, she can't sing and her only other possible avenue for work would be party organisation!

QUEIROZ TAKES OVER AT REAL

Wednesday June 25 2003

Manchester United's assistant boss Carlos Queiroz has been confirmed as the new manager of Real Madrid after he was released by his Old Trafford employers on Wednesday afternoon.

Queiroz was highlighted as the Spanish champions' number one target on Tuesday by Real president Florentino Perez, and when Sir Alex Ferguson told the Daily Mail: "This is a wonderful opportunity for him, too big a chance to turn down," the deal was as good as done.

Speculation had been growing throughout the day that Queiroz had been holding talks in the Spanish capital and the news of his appointment was confirmed on Real's official website.

But just minutes before Queiroz was confirmed in the Madrid post a statement from Manchester United confirmed his destination.

It read: "Manchester United have agreed to release Carlos from his contract so that he can join Real Madrid.

"We thank Carlos for his contribution to Manchester United's success last season and wish him well in his new job.

"A replacement for Carlos will be sought in due course."

Football 365 (http://www.football365.com/All_News/Breaking_News/story_71860.shtml)

Hmm... the expiry of his 2 year contract with Real Madrid coincides with that of Alex Ferguson, maybe United are looking at the long game and Sven is safe after all.

Cameroon footballer Marc-Vivien Foe has died after collapsing while playing for his country against Columbia in the Confederations Cup.

The midfielder, who played 38 times for Manchester City last season, was rushed to hospital following his collapse, but died a few hours later.

The 28-year-old was initially thought to have swallowed his tongue, but hospital personnel have yet to release details of the tragedy.

"This is a very sad day for football for Fifa and for the player's family, this is all we can say at the moment," said a FIFA spokesman.

"Given this situation neither coach Winfried Schaefer of Cameroon or Colombia's Francisco Maturana will be speaking to the media."

The death of the popular former West Ham and Lens player is sure to send a shock-wave through world football.

SOCCER wonderkid Wayne Rooney was just hours away from pulling on his England shirt when he learned the horrific truth: He was being threatened by thugs capable of murder.

The nightmare was revealed to Wayne and his parents by the 17-year-old star's millionaire agent Paul Stretford.

Stretford, 44, told them the threats came from extortion gangs who want a slice of the fortune that had been pouring in since Rooney became famous.

Stretford said he had been menaced personally, and he believed the thugs making the threats were capable of killing him. The millionaire said he was going to front it out — but was concerned that the Rooney family would be exposed to danger.

Manchester United PLC issued the following statement to the London Stock Exchange at 07:00 BST on Wednesday 6 August...

Manchester United PLC has accepted, subject to contract and player medical, an offer from Chelsea Football Club for the sale of the registration of Juan Sebastian Veron for a total consideration of £15 million (of which £2.5 million is conditional on the performance of the Chelsea team over the next 4 seasons).

As a result of this transaction, Manchester United will recognise, in the financial year ended 31 July 2003, a pre-tax player trading loss on the sale (after deduction of the unamortised cost of acquiring the player's registration and ancillary costs of the transaction) of £5 million. However, Manchester United will recognise the additional £2.5 million as trading profits in the subsequent years if the conditions are fulfilled.

Nah, I don't know, same as last year ish. Hopefully Leeds will manage a mid table position. I don't think Chelsea will do that well as I think it might take them time to gel. Saying that though those super teams they put together with Zidane in for the charity matches always seem to do well.

The mouth-watering clash of the opening weekend of the Premiership sees big-spending Chelsea take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Chelsea have spent nearly £75m in the close season on seven new players, and coach Claudio Ranieri knows his side will be expected to win some silverware this year.

Chrissy
18-08-2003, 04:47 AM
Well, well, well, could I have been more wrong?

I had such high hopes for that match, and I am left feeling decidedly disappointed.

Liverpool started out looking pretty classy, there was some nice passing, but on a number of occasions Owen was left all on his own with no support up the front.

The result should have been 2-0 to Chelsea, although the pentalty was deserved when El-Hadji Diouf was brought down in the box, Owen fucked it up big style. Even if Cudicini hadn't moved off his line, there wasn't an ice cubes chance in hell that the ball was going even near the net, let alone in it!

It was nice to see Finnan and Kewell playing. Kewell was looking pretty good, especially at about 25 minutes into the first half when he had a really good shot at the goal. Had Cudicini not been such a fantastic keeper, that would have gone in. I also think he might have been suffering a bit of stage fright!

In other (ie: girly!) news, I have decided that this season, I will mostly be perving on Milan Baros, as Micheal Owen looks bloody awful with his new haircut!

Edited because I was so cross, my spelling went to pot!

While I'm pleased with yesterdays 2-1 win over Newcastle, I can't help being angry with referee Uriah Rennie being the most influential geordie on the park for 45 minutes.

Andy O'Brien should've walked on 22 minutes for his professional foul on Ryan Giggs, Rennie even put the whistle to his mouth and decided not to blow, presumably because he knew that to give a free kick would mean O'Brien had to go, and the ongoing 'informal discussions' between Newcastle and the FA over their poor results in games that Rennie's refereed also fresh in his mind.

Alex Ferguson was not too happy about this, so Rennie sent him off instead, nice one fella.

In the end United found justice via the obligatory RVN strike and the magnificent Paul Scholes diverting a Roy Keane cross goalward with his pie-ceps.

To be honest, Scholes should have had a hat-trick, but it wasn't to be, and with Uriah Rennie having a quiet second-half, Newcastle didn't worry United until a last minute chance from Chopra, which Rio Ferdinand dealt with superbly.

MisterBishi
24-08-2003, 09:29 PM
No, she actually explained it back to me, even understanding that it's at the time the ball is played that's important.

I've explained aggregate a few times during CL games, not sure whether the away goals thing has sunk in, she's happy with it at the time and then asks again in the next game. :)

Bostonmess
24-08-2003, 10:25 PM
Did you explain the bit about it being the last two defenders? Like if the keeper is, for some bizarre reason right up the pitch, ala Grobbelaar or Bartez, and a defender is on the goal line when the ball is played, they're still offside 'cos it's only one defender playing 'em on.

Jeez, now I've confused myself.

And what about the offside from a throw in rule? She get that too? I think even some of the actual players might not know that one :D

Liverpool have this morning received a massive blow with the news that Jamie Carragher will be out for up to six months after breaking his leg against Blackburn yesterday.

Carragher was injured following an appalling tackle from Blackburn's Lucas Neill, who was immediately sent off by referee Neale Barry.

Liverpool's worst fears were realised today when an x-ray confirmed the Reds' defender has broken his right leg and is out of action for up to six months.

The news comes as a double blow to manager Gerard Houllier, who will also be without Milan Baros until the New Year after he suffered a broken ankle when he fell awkwardly following a fair tackle from Markus Babbel.

Liverpool FC Head of Press Ian Cotton told us: "Jamie Carragher left the stadium on crutches yesterday and was seen by our club doctor this morning. Unfortunately an X-Ray has revealed he has broken his leg and the awful news for everyone at the club is that Jamie will be out for up to six months.

"We also expect Milan Baros to be unavailable until the New Year. Milan had a two hour operation last night which went very well. He has had a plate inserted in his ankle but he's not expected back until next year."

first:
Making inflammatory remarks to purely generate or provoke others is forbidden. Replying to such remarks is idiocy.

second:
Express courtesy to others - Just because they disagree with you, does not make them a prong. Count to ten before you reply!

and third:
Post in the appropriate forum. If you do not post in the appropriate forum, don't be surprised if it gets moved or deleted.

the last means that if you want to post inflamatory comments the proper forum is "Bitching and Rants". all of these can be banning offenses so consider this your one warning.

if you have any specific questions about this post or anything in it i suggest you contact Pirate or Spingo via personal message as noted herewith:

LEEDS SEX ATTACK CLAIMS

Leeds United Football Club has said it is giving full co-operation to a police investigation into an alleged sex attack in the city.

West Yorkshire police say they have arrested two men who are being questioned about an alleged serious sex assault on a woman aged 20 in Leeds last night.

The club says it will make no further comment until the police investigation is over.

The men cannot be named for legal reasons.

I am reviving this thread as I want to bitch about football, and since this thread is called 'Football bitching' it seems to be the most appropriate place to bitch about football.

I watched this (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/match/last_match/match_report/) game tonight.

In my opinion, a well deserved result as Liverpool fought hard for the whole game, (despite a disgusting decision by the ref to send Diouf off after Mutu tripped on Dioufs' laces. Something that could have happened to anybody. )

I am going to have a mini bitch about Houlliers treatment of Cheyrou. We have owned Cheyrou for 2 1/2 seasons and this is his first Premiership goal. While I am chuffed to bits for him, I think it's a great shame that he hasn't been allowed to play to his full capacity before now as he has been held back by Houllier by being forced to play in positions that obviously don't suit his style for so long.

Heskey also impressed me this evening, as for quite a while now he has done nothing at all, but tonight he set up a beautiful cross for Cheyrou to bury the ball. The goal was perfect in every way. It reminded me how good Liverpool can be when they put their minds to it.

It was good to see Patrice Luzi on the pitch after Dudek was taken off injured. Although he's young it seems that he could be shaping up to be a valuable member of the team. He made one or two cracking little saves towards the end.

I also want to bitch about the lack of decent coverage of Cudichini's legs. Pictures of that man in a pair of shorts should be made illegal!

That's what drives me insane at the moment. We don't need to rely on Heskey!

We have some really classy players and some even more classy scoring partnerships, but Houllier is insisting on getting Heskey on the pitch at every opportunity. He doesn't seem to 'fit in' anywhere.

I don't understand why Heskey is still getting first team football? Objectively, could someone please explain to me why Houllier might consider him to be a good player?

Sir Alex Ferguson and Paul Scholes have won the Barclaycard manager and player of the month awards for December.
United went on a five-match winning run last month with victories over Aston Villa, Manchester City, Tottenham, Everton and Middlesbrough.

England midfielder Scholes made an impressive comeback from injury with two goals to help United claim top spot ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea.

It is the 14th time that Ferguson has won the manager of the month award.

The decision was made by the Barclaycard Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and supporters.

Barclaycard sponsorship director Nic Gault of the Barclaycard awards panel said: "Manchester United have made a habit of ending seasons strongly and their current form suggests they have started early.

"After defeat at the hands of Chelsea, Sir Alex Ferguson has taken his side on a five match unbeaten run that has sent out a clear message to the other title contenders that they are not going to give the title up easily.

"After an injury lay-off, Paul Scholes has quickly regained the type of form that has made him such an important player for United and England.

"Although it's only January, he must be an early contender for player of the year."

My major rant about football, is that it has been bastardised and highjacked by Americans. When the World Cup went there in the '94 (a dark, dark day in the history of the beautiful game) it turned into a Las Vegas side show. Fucking Dianna Ross missing a penalty (better her than Chris Waddle, I suppose). If I remember correctly, they were talking about a new scoring system to make the game more accessible to retarded mid-westerners, who can't watch an entire 90 minutes of football without the possibility of cheerleaders, mascots, some one throwing hot nuts at them and an 104 to 86 scoreline. Just because they're sports have higher scorelines doesn't validate their innate stupidity. In reality all they're sports are just crap versions of girls sports, Baseball (rounders), basketball (netball) and Amercian Football is just a wankers version of Rugby, but with padding and some overweight, tobbacco chewing coach (who's finest moment was 40 years ago when his high school won the Milwaukee Area Grid Iron Cup and he threw a Home-run pass to win the game in over-time and he made out with the home coming queen in the back of a 58 dodge. A scene he replays in his head every night when his wife rolls over in disgust at the sight of his former-musclebound-athlete-gone-to-seed physique) stopping the game every 30 seconds to tell his overweight players which way to run and who to fall-over on. And Rugby is a wankers game anyway. Even if we did win the World Cup. And what kind of state is rugby in if you can get to the world cup, play your B team and still beat the opposition by 150 points to 0. Twats. Middle class public school boys looking for an excuse to look at other men naked and grab hold of their balls.
That wasn't really about football was it? More a reflection of working in a boring job and drinking at lunchtime.

Christ we spent all that dough and were lucky to beat man shitty! If it wasn't for Cudicini we'd have lost. Still manure drew with some other west london mob, forgot their name, so we go second and fergie blames not his players or the ref or even the linesman but the fourth official! What a git. Good to see leeds are stuffed - I've been hoping for that for over 30 years. I hate the arse*al - and their blind manager - he looks like that vulture in the playstation ads. houllier looks more and more like a rabbit stuck in the headlights. rottenham don't even have a manager but have a great rumour mill and those cute wee hats. they reclon glendas going back to southampton - I bet their fans are really rapt with that! Last time he sent the players on holiday and run off to three point lane with their best defender.

You've all probably seen in the back pages that Chelski have swooped for Arjen Robben under the noses of Manchester United, not that anybody who'd read about Chelsea's new deal with PSV didnt see it coming a mile off.

This deal pisses me off, not because Manchester United have once again fucked up a deal that was more or less done six months ago by dropping their bid, or that we've once again lost out on an excellent player who actually wants to play for us (remember Ronaldinho). As part of the deal Chelsea have funded the £7m transfer of Brazilian defender Alex, on the understanding that he'll play in Holland for a maximum of 2 years (long enough to effectively guarantee a work permit to play in Britain) and then shake his ass to over to Stamford Bridge.

These sort of feeder club deals are nothing new, United have (or had) a deal with Livingstone in Scotland, and some club in Belgium, and a lot of other premiership clubs have similar arrangements, but for a big the size of PSV to agree to be a feeder club is unheard of, and it's all because the fuckers that own PSV (Electrical giant 'Philips') want to get a good relationship going with Abramovich's Russian Oil company, Sibneft.

Bah.. I know football is big business these days, but can't we just stick to big football business rather than letting nasty oil and electrical goods get involved?

Worried that a poor club from stretford won't be able to compete? Tired of seeing the look on fergies face when he discovers his gum is vinegar flavoured?(happens every time they lose). Never mind man yoo - you're still popular in Singapore where they too don't believe roy keane is a thug.

Did you even read my post? That Arjen Robben didn't come to United is purely United's fault. They had reached a verbal agreement with the club, and the player and his parents wanted a move to United, but when they sent an official offer of only £5m PSV were annoyed (the verbal offer was thought to be double that).

Something similar happened with the Ronaldinho deal in the summer too.

My gripe is that the deal between Chelsea and PSV is essentially a deal between Philips and Sibneft, and if you think footballing deals between non-footballing entities that own clubs is good for the sport, then you're either a dribbling lunatic or a blinkered Chelsea fan.

I should also point out for the hard of reading that I was being sarcastic when I called Boston a trolling bastard, because Wenger has done a fecking marvellous job at Arsenal in building the only team in the last ten years to give us any real competition, all from a little shed in North London. When they have a decent sized stadium and more money they have the potential to be frightening.

PSV president Harry van Raaji told the world on Tuesday that Kenyon was instrumental in Robben moving to Chelsea rather than United at the end of this season.

"I've always been able to do good business with Peter Kenyon," said Van Raaji. "That was the case with the Stam and Van Nistelrooy transfers and again now he is with Chelsea.

"He is trustworthy and a man of honour who doesn't go back on his word, which is something Manchester United have done."

Yep.. The Times published the Deloitte and Touche football rich list today. It's based mainly on the club's revenue via gate receipts, TV money and marketing, though - the wealth of shareholders have nothing to do with it.

I'm not sure about Leeds being 17th though, United were top with Juventus second, Arsenal were the next English club and they were about 12th I think, but I left the paper on the train.

The results are more a reflection of which clubs are most profitable rather than which are richest though, otherwise the likes of Madrid and Chelsea would be up top by quite a margin.

Yep.. that's certainly a factor.

I was quite surprised with how they broke it down though, the majority of United's revenue (about 70% I think) comes from matchday, with marketing and TV money making up the rest; Arsenal is more or less exactly 50% TV money.

Arsenal's move to Ashburton Grove in the next few years (2006?) is certainly going to be significant, but that a club of that size earns as much as 50% of it's revenue from TV outlines just how much clubs relegated from the prem suffer these days.

the figures were based on earnings last season. No account was made for expenses - Leeds had to pay out more managers than you can shake a stick at, manure spent a bit on the transfer market. It is all pre-Abramovich so means nothing today. If thats the figures they release then I don't want them doing my books as I'd go broke while they told me I was rich.

It means everything today, because Abramovich is not a football club. The figures are based on how the club itself is doing as a business, ie. Gate Receipts, TV revenue, Marketing, etc.

Of course, if you'd rather base the value of a company on the personal fortune of it's individual shareholders than on it's revenue then go right ahead, but I wouldn't want you doing my books...

You missed the point - it is INCOME ONLY - NOT EXPENSES. Chelsea's gate fees are up this season - try getting a ticket and will go up again when Abramovich increases capacity, as he has promised. Should be simple enough for a man yoo to understand.

I wasn't all that impressed with last nights win to be honest. It's not like we were up against anybody that tough. About half way through the match I started to notice the general porkiness of the Sofia players, after that, it was almost impossible to watch the game properly as I was completely mesmerised by the waves of wobbling flesh as the Sofia players ran up and down he pitch.

Stevie Gerrard looked on fine form though. Obviously being a new dad suits him, perhaps Owen could take a leaf out of his book and get his girlfriend up the duff again. Maybe that would make him feel like more of a man. Perhaps then he'd stop acting like a little girl on the pitch and get some of his form back.

In other news, every Liverpool supporter I know has been joking that 'I see Houllier got my letter' which proves that he still has a long way to go to make the fans happy again.

I think I'll be speaking for every right thinking individual when I say that I hope that Pompey beat the Arse in the FA Cup this weekend. Filthy North London Bastards. The only reason they got a point against us the last time (1-1 at Highbury) was coz Dartagnan, sorry Pires, pulled a swan dive with pike in our penalty area and Patrick Viera bunged the ref half a weeks wages. Everyone vents their spleen at Man Utd, but for me, pound for pound, point for point, brown envelope for brown envelope, Arsenal are the single most despicable team in football (even above Southampton... cough... cough... spit), they act the cultured European footballing team, but underneath all that bullshit is the black heart of a crass corporate machine. May they stumble at the final block (as always in the big competitions) and may Arjan De Zeuww put his boot through Pires dodgy knee-cap. Not that I'm bitter, y'understand, I just can't stand arrogance in the guise of a footballing philosophy. Up the Blues.

Also, I had a conversation with a Liverpool fan the other day who argued that despite Pompey beating them twice this year, that they were better than us... and that they deserved to be in the Champions League coz they're Liverpool and (if you have the memory of Methuselah) they used to be Great! Bollocks. The arrogance of people who support big teams kills me. And the prick lives in North London. Never been to Liverpool. Doubt he could find it on a map (the boy can't find his arse with both hands). Personally, I don't reckon you can call yourself a real fan unless you're from the same town as the team. Glory hunters bug the shit outta me. Footballfandom (that isn't a word, now is it?) should be about belonging... not latching onto a team that finish in the top six every year.

Rant rant rant... yadda yadda yadda... really shouldn't drink at lunch time!

My excuse is, I married a scouser (born and bred in Liverpool as were his parents and his grandparents, before that, I think a couple of paddies learned how to swim and kind of never went home, but that's beside the point!)

My parents are both from Liverpool, so just because I was born 'down south' it doesn't mean I don't have roots in Liverpool.

Jubilant Porto striker Benni McCarthy has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United, accusing the Old Trafford outfit of 'lacking respect'.

McCarthy and his team-mates were intensely annoyed at the diving allegations made by Red Devils chief Sir Alex Ferguson and were further incensed when Gary Neville claimed the Porto players rolled around like girls.

The resentment felt at the comments just increased the celebrations within the Portuguese camp, with McCarthy quick to respond to the jibes.

``I wonder what they feel like being beaten by a team of girls,'' said the South African striker, who followed up his two goals in the first leg by firing the last-minute free-kick that Tim Howard could only palm into Costinha's path as Porto scored their stunning 3-2 aggregate win last night.

``Fair play and sportsmanship should still exist in football but Manchester United didn't show us any respect at all and that is very sad.

``Everyone has their own opinion about certain things but you should keep them to yourself.

``You shouldn't go out in public the way they did, calling our players girls and talking about diving for free-kicks.

``They wouldn't even shake our hands in Porto and that is bad for football.

``Manchester United are the biggest side in the world and they should set the standards. Everyone looks up to them but if they don't respect the opposition how can they expect the opposition to respect them.

``What goes around comes around and in the end they got what they deserved. We are through to the next round and they are out. I hope that will be a lesson to them.''

He will be soon, when he joins some other team.

I'd take the piss out of Derby but I don't know anything about them and they'll probably beat us next season, so I'll start by keeping me go shut. :D

So where the hell is Smithy gonna play?

And what did you guys think of the double substitution in the FA Cup final, I'm thinking Solskjaer and Butt are off in the summer :o

man of the match should have gone to ronaldo, some of the shit he pulled was amazing, even if he was showing off.

Absolutely, the kid is something else. I'll be the first to admit that he was embarassing at times in the first half of the season, skinning himself as often as defenders and rarely producing any real threat or end product despite his tricks, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was voted our player of the season now.

I think Sven must have been SMS'ing Ulrika instead of watching the game to have awarded RVN man of the match, he was pretty quiet despite his 2 goals.

Edit: A couple more points....

Firstly... FC Porto 3 - 0 Monaco

Secondly...

Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has finalised an agreement with Leeds United for the transfer of Alan Smith.

The total consideration for this transfer is £7.05 million (£6.0 million payable to Leeds, £0.3m levy payable to the FA Premier League and £0.75m fees payable to the agent).

After the well publicised 'dodgy' payments to agents during last summer's United transfers, do we think that all transfer payments will be outlined as clearly as United have done with the Smith transfer in the future?

Wtf? Smithy is a cunt :( After all the "I won't play for MANU" comment bollox, what does he go and do? Arse! He always epitomized Leeds United, he was shit, but he tried like fuck :D

I think he'll do more than get starts. To be honest, when I first heard that we had made a couple of bids for him, I thought we were taking the piss. But now that he's actually moved, and realising just how much it means, I reckon he's got what it takes to be a star for United.

He's got that same thing that Keane and Cantona have, which fits somewhere between self-belief, ambition and arrogance. He's going to take some major shit for what he's done, but he thinks it's right for him and has the strength of character to go through with it, I wish him all the best.

They are NOT handle bars...they fulfill much the same function as love-handles do on us :D

PS: Do you actually have any players LEFT to make up a team?;)

Okay I'm going to fess up here. I,ve ben following West Ham all my life, in fact I was born two miles from Upton Park. All that doesn't erase the pain of there performances over the last ten years. I keep hoping Sir Bobby's spirit will infuse the players somehow, but we can't even beat bloody Crystal Palace. Now I have to listen to that wanker Richard Friedman on the big sports breakfast harp on about bloody crystal palace when he wouldn't no a football if you shoved one up his arse.
It's a cruel world:mad:

Hey OggyFlute,

Imagine my pain when my beloved Tractor Boys couldn't beat West Ham for a shot at Crystal Palace and the Premier League.... :(

Now I also have to contend with a brother-in-law who has returned to Australia after 2 years in London who suddenly follows Chelsea! That is criminal I say! I have banned him fro wearing a Chelsea strip in my house. Bloody Chelsea....

ITFC rule!

Cheers
Icky

I'm not a great follower of soccer/football, but I watch it say every second weekend. I follow tottenham and I was just wondering what you all think of their new management structure and what it will do for the club?
