No you needn't. So STFU!

Why call something, where you mostly carry a ball round and throw it, why call it football?

I could understand it if you were making it simpler, for example changing colour to color (like the Yanks do and everyone whinges on about it), but you're not, you're just confusing things/me, and fucking why? It's not big, it's not clever, I know yer fatha and I know where yer live.

I put the Tv on, Australian rules football, wtf? Where's the fucking football? It's not fucking football. Some fucking dumb fucks running about like lobotomised basket ball players on acid, bouncing a deformed ball about in the middle of a huge cunting field.

The referee dresses like the cunt from the local who sell cockles, mussels and other various crustaceans, when he puts his arms up I'm thinking he's offering to apply the salt and vinegar for you.

Football, sez what it does on the tin. :swear:

bass bogan, stop being a noob. I'm from Sydney and i refer to soccer as football, as well as afl. I do not refer to League or Rugby as football but i understand that others do so let them. I don't see by your logic why soccer should not be referred to as football.

why is sven playing james again?

More to the point, why hasn't someone given James a copy of 'The Big Book Of How To Save Goals' not to mention telling him that he is a rather large gentleman who, properly placed in the mouth of the goal, could stop the ball going in just by staring firmly at it?

Can't see it myself. I think it's much more likely that they both had a threesome with Ulrikakakakaka and they've come to a mutual understanding that if James keeps playing, he won't spill his guts to The News Of The World...oh wai..

I did actually post cloughie to front page the day he died but I also put in a bit about Johnny(?) Ramone dying the day before, which had apparently been posted the day before and which I hadn't seen.
Pirate booted it and said Mr Ramones death was old news..I didn't get round to re-doing it and as I bet over 3/4 of peeps will never have heard of cloughie I put it here instead where at least I can be sure people will have an idea who he was.

No, it wasn't Pirates reply which was out of order, I hadn't noticed that the Ramones death had been posted so it shouldn't have been published on the front page.
It's as I said; I wasn't certain if Cloughie was newsworthy enough for an Aussie front page so I put it here where I thought people would appreciate it.
(Should of been front page IMHO but then I skip it when the Aussie rules footy players have been fucking each other, or wives, or kids or dogs or what / who ever so how can I moan!) :(

"Revealed: Disgraced Mutu's Kings Cross whore shame
Testicles shrunken like sun-dried raisins
by James Frotbox
Following the unbelievably harsh seven month ban handed out by the FA to troubled former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu recently, he was ordered to undergo stringent counselling sessions to treat his unsavoury cocaine imbibing habit. After covert surveillance involving days sat in the back of our old Transit eating doughnuts and urinating into a bottle, The Rockall Times can sensationally reveal that Mr Mutu is brazenly flouting the iron authority of the FA and continuing in his wicked ways.

After returning from counselling sessions, Mutu has engaged in marathon rounds of sadomasochistic rumpy-pumpy, devouring several kilos of finest Colombian gutter glitter from the calloused nipples of seven Kings Cross whores before slumping exhausted on his faux leopard skin duvet, his testicles shrunken like sun-dried raisins. Shockingly, Mutu’s depravity has not stopped at this tedious after-match entertainment enjoyed by the majority of Premiership footballers. During shameless searches through his wheelie bin outside his Kensington flat, we have discovered that he is addicted to the newest and most deadly prescription drug available today — suppositories.

Fast becoming the designer drug for the new millennium, these potentially deadly anal capsules are highly addictive and are often the next stop for users abusing soft drugs like cocaine or heroine. Mutu is believed to have become hooked on the rectal rush provided by these evil things after a post-match knees-up with close friend and webcam entrepeneur Leslie “Tugger” Grantham. It has now emerged that Chelsea had their suspicions for some time before Mutu was fingered that he was engaged in some form of substance misuse. The club agreed to cover-up the suppository use in favour of condemnation on the cocaine front, in compassionate efforts to spare him any further shame.

This has raised concerns that suppository abuse is becoming widespread amongst the country’s top Premiership stars, and gives rise to the widespread belief that sophisticated “masking” agents are being employed to avoid positive test results. Although botty swabs have recently been introduced to combat this growing menace and catch culprits, agents such as extra hot vindaloo curry and spicy chilli fajitas are being consumed to throw authorities off the scent.

Mutu did finally show some contrition for his wayward behaviour, and tried in vain to personally apologise and plead with the Chelsea manager, His Excellency Jose Mourinho, who refused to grant an audience. Several entreaties were made on Mutu’s behalf to Mourinho for clemency, all with little success. After his last emissary was decapitated and his head sent back to Mutu wrapped in sackcloth, he was finally released by the club.

We tracked Mourinho down to Chelsea’s training ground in the hope of getting the inside scoop on the Adrian Mutu saga, and he was putting his latest band of mercenary cohorts through attacking manoeuvres. Unfortunately, before we could be ushered into his temporary touchline court we were waved away by advisors. Not normally noted for his compassion, Emperor Mourinho’s latest proclamation has nonetheless surprised the fans. Unhappy at the subdued nature of the Stamford Bridge crowd of late, he has stated that he expects more noise and cheering from them in future, or one in ten will be dragged from the stands and put to death in the centre circle.

And they couldn't even win!

I only got into the Premier League last season, when I was overseas and the EPL on TV was my only link to the Western civilisation. I watched amost every team play (except for the bottom teams that they never show) and after quite a while found myself looking forwards to the Chelsea games the most. Every sport is better when you pick a team to support, so I decided to lock in Chelsea as my team. I've got no English heritage so I was pretty much free to pick any team.

Now almost everywhere I read, everyone hates Chelsea. Is this an Ambromovich (sp?) thing or is it a deeper thing? Like how everyone hates Carlton in the AFL. I heard the fans used to be really racist?

What the hell? Bergkamp, Reyes, Ljungberg? I didnt watch the game but they're hardly reserves. I know Fabregas is a young player but Arsenal fans are creaming themselves over him and he's outshone Viera a couple of times this season.

Sheffield United showed yesterday, as Manchester United have done twice already this season, that once a game gets physical Arsenal's petulent foreigners throw the toys out.

The Arsenal v Chelsea league game will be interesting because Chelsea don't like a physical game either. I wonder whether Mourinho will tell them to go out fighting or whether both sides will keep it fairy-style.

What a terrible quandry I am in with this game..on the one side, Forest are my natural enemies, on the other I'd like to see a team from the coca-cola league (yes, it's real..how many different names has the premirship had, ffs, and as for the cups..'The Milk Cup'..I mean, wtf was that about :( ) beat a premiership side.
However, being as I would quite like spurs to start playing up to their potential I guess that, as usual, I hope the tree hugging forest fuckers lose!
Arsenal only had Bergkamp for about 20 minutes play anyway :) :greenman: :) anyway, but Pires kept the toy throwing going well..Arsenal - Chelsea..Rattles at 40 paces anyone?

So then, once again Thierry does his best Denis Bergkamp impression and doesn't bother turning up to a European game, Kolo Toure has another shocker and Cygan shows once again why it was a bad idea for Wenger to bring in nothing but attackers in the last year.

I didnt see any of the Liverpool vs Bayer Leverkusen game but by all accounts the scousers did well save for the inevitable Jerzy howler right at the end to give ze Germans some hope for the second leg.

Can't wait for Manchester United vs AC Milan tonight. Tough one to call but I think United will sneak it by a goal. It will be interesting to see whether RvN plays from the start or whether United go for Rooney on his own up front with Giggs and Ronaldo switching sides just behind him and RvN on the bench.

Barcelona vs Chelsea is another tough one to call but with Gallas back and Terry on form I reckon their defence could hold out, even if Drogba and Gudjonssen with no Duff or Robben doesn't sound all that frightening up front.

You honestly think Man U have a chance??? I know you are a fan but that is taking optomism to another level!

Pires did some lovely work last night and that bloody ref didn't appreciate even 1 of his dives, which were superb..I dunno, hard to get a good ref...

Chelski..yeah, difficult..I guess we will see how the Newcastle defeat affects them..I dunno, if they get a couple of losses on the run I think they might fall apart a bit..we shall see..

You honestly think Man U have a chance??? I know you are a fan but that is taking optomism to another level!

Milan have a great defensive record but when you consider that we could potentially field a side tonight with Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney and Van Nistelrooy going forward its not that optimistic to expect a goal.

I think it's more likely though that we'll start without RvN and with Keane and Phil Neville/Quinton Fortune quite deep, Scholes a bit further forward and then Giggs and Ronaldo providing support for Rooney on the break.

Even at 34 or 35 though, I reckon Ronaldo could find Maldini a little harder to fool than some of the defenders he's been up against of late. On the other hand if Ronaldo's on the left then Cafu could expose what he lacks defensively.

Whatever happens, I'm really looking forward to the game. Shame I couldnt get tickets as the Anti-Glazer march before the game could be interesting too.

24-02-2005, 01:51 AM
I have to say I don't take such tactical interest in anyone but DCFC, but I think that, although you have a good chance of getting a goal for the reasons you state, your defence just isn't going to be up to par. The march sounds fun, I wonder if the real militants, the ones who have made serious threats, will turn up. Eggs at the directors cars / boxes anyone?
If anyone, I can see scholes or rooney scoring from 20 - 30 yards out, I don't think out & out poachers like V Nistelroy or Ronaldo will be given the space

MisterBishi
24-02-2005, 02:01 AM
I know what you mean about taking a tactical interest, and it sometimes strikes me that whenever an English club plays one of the famous European clubs a lot of people say they have no chance. I don't know if its because we've seen the likes of Giggs and Keane every week for ten years and we only see glimpses of the Zidanes and Ronaldinhos occassionally on TV, but people seem to automatically hold a higher respect for continental players.

As for the goals, European matches are always tight at the back but RvN just loves to score in Europe. I think his record is 30 in 31 games now, only Raul has more goals in the Champions League but thats from almost ten years in the competition. You're right though, its not going to be easy.

Forgot to mention Jaap Stam too, he should get a great reception tonight. The fans still have a lot of respect for the big dutch fella.

dozer
24-02-2005, 01:08 PM

Although I would have liked a Derby win, a draw is OK; I have a lot of time for Burnley as Turf Moor was the first away game I ever went to where I stood in the adults section when I was about 12. I remember they had really nice Pie & peas with mint sauce; I digress, Derby have got 3 'easy' games in a row (Forest fuckers, Wolves & Gillingham) so keep an eye on those places...

To be honest, I dont know. I missed the goal as it happened and the only replay I've seen was from the front (I missed the first 20 minutes and was cooking during half time). I've heard a few people say that it looked like it was in the first time but the dodgy replay angles gave them doubts.

Either way, I reckon Cech could easily have been sent off and they'd have been one down from the penalty with ten men for 80-odd minutes (plus 6). I think the linesman/ref just bottled it because it was so early on.

dozer
04-05-2005, 10:15 PM

MisterBishi
04-05-2005, 10:19 PM
Those sensors in the goal posts & ball make sense to me - instant decision, no disputes. With cameras you still have to have somebody look at the video which will hold up play (however briefly).

I think the 6 minutes cost Roman about £5m each. Still better value for money than Drogba though.

King_Crud

If it was able to accurately 'sense' its position, i.e. at which angle it was at, could you not have it on the inside edge of the ball and allow for the radius?

The thing to worry about is that financial analysts all seem to agree that the one market left for United to exploit further is TV. That means negotiating their own deal when the current one ends. Doesn't sound too bad for United, and Arsenal and Chelsea will be able to negotiate good deals for themselves, but the likes of Fulham and Birmingham will see a huge reduction in TV revenue.

OK, show your support for a fellow monkey and cheer Derby County on in the second leg of our play-off match against Preston North End!
OK, we are 2-0 down after the away leg, but we CAN beat them at pride park! Trouble is we have 4 of our best players missing!

Still, listen HERE (http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/sport/commentaries.shtml) from 19:45pm GMT.

"Derby County go into the second leg of the play-off semi-final without four key men. Chris Makin is still nursing the heel injury he sustained three weeks ago and joins Inigo Idiakez, Grzegorz Rasiak and Michael Johnson on the sidelines. Rams officials are calling on home supporters to turn Pride Park into an intimidating Arena tonight. The Rams go into the game 2-0 down to Preston North End.
As for the game itself... Paul Peschisolido says the Rams will be at the visitors right from the off: "It has been pretty much our approach every game this season... we've got 90 minutes to do it. If we score an early goal then the pressure will be on them and the momentum will be in our favour." Paul says having a vocal home crowd is all important: "As Delia said - they are like a 12th man. They've been fantastic all season. With them in full voice I think it will help massively."

C'MON YOU RAMS!!!

What did you all think of the FA Cup final?

As much as i hate Man U with a white hot intensity, they were clearly the better team. Ronaldo carved up, as did Scholes and Rooney. Arsenal looked so flat in attack, sorely missing Terry Henry. Football can be a cruel game, perhaps the only i know where the better team can often lose easily, and this time Arsenal came out trumps.

(Quote taken from other thread in Sports Forum)

I admit Rooney played a hell of a match... but if they were the better team, they could have gotten through our defence. Arsenal were quiet up front, but they held up Man U's attacks and stopped them from putting anything in (offside goals aside).

Out of all the United players I have to admit that Scholes is probably the most halfway likeable. Well done Arsenal and now I can go back to loathing you next season because I won't be living in Finsbury Park. Fantastic celebrations around the ground after the match...the lengths people will go to have a kick around on a main road to celebrate. It beats me how you arsenal fans can congratulate yourselves on holding a tight defense. It was leaky as fuck. The only reason there wern't ten goals put in the net is because of Man United's ineptitude. They set up some good opportunities, but missed some sitters by thier standards. And, they hit the post twice. Arsenal were lucky as fuck (and i like the gunners).

There was also Freddie's instinctive and fortunate goal line clearance and an admittedly superb save by Lehmann from Rooney with his right foot. It sums up our season really, I don't know whether Carling Opta keep stats on it but I reckon Rooney has hit the post/bar about 5 or 6 times this season.

Yep, the only way we were going to see goals in that game was from the spot. It was a bad way to lose but there were a lot of positives for us, not least Fletcher who was overshadowed by Rooney & Ronaldo in the media but had a great game until he went off.

Hopefully Ruud will be back on top form next year - a lot of people are blaming "Ferguson's 4-5-1 european system" which is actually more like a 4-3-3, but we're creating chances and RvN is getting into positions to score, he's just a second or two slow. Same goes for Saha though I wouldnt be surprised or disappointed to see him leave in the summer.

Sven is a dick, he is tactically narrowminded (hey take a 1-0 lead early against France then defend for 80 minutes) and acts in a completely unneccesary arrogant way just to try and keep on top of the English press. Joe Cole on the left? 14 year old geek playing CM4 at home wouldn't even do that. They have the players ofcourse but its about finding the best formation for your best XI.

Hope they crash and burn...which will no doubt happen under Errikson.

Joe Cole played well on the left in a couple of games recently, N. Ireland was one of them. It's certainly a better idea than wasting Scholes there, I doubt Scholes would have retired from International football if he didnt think he was wasting his time being played out of position.

Matty Dawson, Ledley King, Paul Robinson (young in goalkeeping terms), Edman, and Defoe compared with Reid, Routledge, Carrick and Davis.

Whilst I appreciate Jol didn't buy King and Robinson I said he has built a good team which not only includes buying in new players, but also seperating the wheat from the chaff of what you already have to work with (ie. the quality purchase of Dean Richards)

Paddy Power are paying out on Chelsea as Champions:

CHELSEA ARE PREMIERSHIP CHAMPIONS!!

Chelsea are Premiership Champions according to top bookie Paddy Power who have today declared the title race over by paying out on all single bets on Chelsea to win the Premiership.

It’s only September, and the leaves are still on the trees, but with Jose Mourinho’s team already well clear of the pack the bookie doesn’t believe they can be caught and are paying out.

Paddy Power, head of communications for the bookie, said: “We know and the punters know the Premiership race is already over so the winnings are better off back in people’s pockets.

Paddy Power expects their biggest winner to be a customer in their Archway shop in North London who stands to win £15,000.

However there is still hope for Fergie and Wenger for the bookie doesn’t always get it right. Paddy Power famously paid-out early on Arsenal in the 2002/2003 season only to have to pay out again when Manchester United pipped them to the title. Chelsea still have 31 games to play so anything can happen.

oh hang on, we cant upset the balance of power. only 3 teams are allowed to win anything in epl,
being
arsenal ( who cant win anything in europe, and had french revolution, oh no english players, shhhh dont tell the media ),
liverpool ( because hey ,they were the most dominant side in the 70's and we think we were still the best)
manu ( with all our bandwagon supporters, we actually have won something therefore marketing is a goal)
not to mention wenger and ferguson are the biggest prats

as a chelsea supporter im glad my team is doing well, for many years they had always been a top 5 side but only won the occasional fa cup and league cup and always got bagged for buying foreign players and hurting home grown talent
... Anyone had a look at bolton or arsenal lately ?

Im not fussed about Glazier either...
chelsea qualified for the champions league before roman came in , and if he wasnt there we would still be a top 5 team and everything would be back to normal
be it ManU & Arsenal the only teams allowed to win the league
and didnt arsenal go through one season unbeaten to win the league. Thats a fantastic effort , no bitching then was there ?
as for bandwagon supporters , marketing and Peter Kenyon, Roman wants to transform chelsea and yes, make them successfull off the pitch exactly how manu have become
Give it time, Leeds will be back too with Bates behind the wheel

score 1-1
your turn Bishi ;)

MisterBishi
30-09-2005, 07:31 PM
They weren't far off, and the bitching was aimed at referees and Bobby Pires. It was 30 games unbeaten - spanning the two seasons ending in 02 & 03 - United ended the unbeaten run and went on to win the league in the second season. but even that same Arsenal side wouldn't repeat it, it was a fluke. Chelsea on the other hand seem entirely immune to dips in form when they can replace anybody in the team with another proven international.

I'm glad that there's more competition and I'm also glad, in a perverse way, that United aren't performing too well and the glory hunters associated with the club are getting uppity and jumping ship.

Oh, and while Chelsea qualified for the Champions League, they were in a very similar position financially to another club mentioned in your post who got as far as the semi finals of that same competition in 2001, and look what's happened to them.

Not really, we all knew it was coming and he's made no secret of wanting a couple of seasons at Celtic. It's not like when Cantona retired at the top of his game, Keano's been superb but he can't play 55 games at the top any more and we need to replace him. Hopefully Ballack or Gattuso will come in the summer.

I'm quite surprised that he said coaching at United doesn't appeal though. I can understand it not appealing now, while he can still provide a lot for a team like Celtic or 15 premiership clubs, maybe that's what he meant.

Has anyone consulted Celtic on if they even want Keane if all this is true? He's constantly struck down with injuries and when was the last guy who was 34-35 successful in making a comeback from a broken foot. The romantic notion of Keane playing for his boyhood idols is good and all but it's insulting to the Bhoys if he assumes they're going ot shell out a shitload in wages for the honour of having Keane at Parkhead.

MisterBishi
01-10-2005, 09:02 PM
Keane would be perfectly capable of playing 30 - 40 games a season at Celtic and being fantastic for them. He totally dominated the likes of Gerrard and Vieira in our games against Arsenal & Liverpool last season and his experience would have a valuable influence on the younger players there.

That said, I expect he'd have to take a hefty paycut to go to Parkhead but then he'd almost certainly have to do the same to stay at United as well.

Yeah he could handle himself at his age in the SPL but how would him and WGS get on? Would he be too large a character for the dressing room? World Cup 2002 anyone? If Keane was desperate to play for the hoops like he claims he was then it should of been a long time into this contract and not now, I would rather have Neil Lennon that Roy Keane, atleast Lennon isn't taking the piss.

Juninho is also a prime example of a player who thought he could have a bit of a sojourn before retirement by running rings around the SPL but sat on the bench like a sad cnut. I'm just praying to god that there is no Petrov plus cash deal with Man U to get Keane in return.

Also I feel I may have ot wank over Marjec Zurawski soon, he is my new god.

MisterBishi
02-10-2005, 07:54 PM
Keane would be free but would probably want relatively huge wages, but of all the players in the premiership I'd say Roy Keane is the least likely of all to move clubs for a paycheck and be happy to sit on the bench counting his money.

King_Crud
03-10-2005, 09:47 PM
i reckon Keane would take a huge pay cut to play for them just for the sake of playing for them. He was on a great wicket at Man U, apparently (and correct me if I'm wrong) it was in his contract that he was to be the highest payed player at Man U, so whenever some top player got a pay rise so did he

MisterBishi

That was widely reported in the media when he first went onto £50k a week, I'm not sure if he's still on those terms though because he's re-signed a couple of times since. If he is still on those terms he'll be on something like £80k per week with the likes of RvN and Rio the Cokehead.
