I've got a dual boot system (grub) on my laptop, booting XP and SuSe. I'm now quite confident that my SuSe install is just the way I want it and would now like to start connecting it to the internet.

To this end I am having quite a bit of difficulty attempting to install the modem that is built into the laptop. I've searched 'linuxonlaptop' 'dell-linux' yahoo group's etc etc to no avail. I'm all googled out!

If anyone can please locate a driver and maybe give me a pointer as to installing this bloody device it would be mucho appreciated. Rep and zCash etc.

laptop=Dell latitude C800
xp picks up the modem device as such:

3Com 56K v.90 Mini PCI Modem (built onto motherboard).
PCI bus 2, device 6, function 1
PCI\Ven_10B7&DEV_1007&SUBSYS_615B10B7&REV_10
INIT commands: ATS7=75
COM3
IRQ10

Thanks in advance.

You're not going to have much luck - That's a WinModem (predominantly software based modem) I'm afraid.

I can point you to this post (http://linmodems.org/cgi-bin/ezmlm-cgi?1:msp:1229:cilpipdmolabpbbbibgd), which might yet yield fruitful results...
